Federal authorities in North Texas are investigating a New Orleans Saints offensive lineman for allegedly distributing steroids and have subpoenaed a current member of the Atlanta Falcons to testify for federal grand jurors in the matter, The New York Times reported late Monday.

But the attorney for Matt Lehr, 28, says his client has done nothing wrong.

hopefully this turns into nothing....

The Times' story, published online Monday night, says Mr. Coggins acknowledged that his client was under investigation but said the investigation would probably be dropped.


any ideas which dirty bird it is??

The Times did not identify which Atlanta Falcons player has been subpoenaed to testify in the case.

The attorney, Paul Coggins, has repeatedly told The Dallas Morning News over the past several weeks that he could not confirm that Mr. Lehr was being investigated.

Mike ( Paul Crew ) Vick didn't play on the prison football team.

Jason Trahan and Gary Jacobson, of The Dallas Morning News, report convicted steroids trafficker David Jacobs said he sold large amounts of illegal performance-enhancing drugs to New Orleans Saints OG Matt Lehr. Jacobs said Lehr used a hair-loss prevention drug as a masking agent for steroid use in 2006.

Considering the Saints just signed him and hasn't really been a part of the club, it's no real problem for us. The Saints knew his problems with drugs and if this goes any farther all the club has to do is release him.

It concerns me, and it concerns me quite a lot. We didn't draft a center. Nor did we get one from the undrafted free agents.

Damn, I wish we would've picked up Steve Justice in the 6th. He made a lot of sense to me, to be developed into a starter in a few seasons, and to function as a backup until then. He'd have been fine on our practice squad, IMO. I know we coveted that PK, but we could've made both happen.

So I guess the plan is to stick with Goodwin at center, with Alleman backing him up, but no one after that. Right?

No. Nesbit can play center if something happens to Goody.

I do find it kind of funny that this comes out a week or so after we sign him and so "Saints" gets stuck in the headline.
