would the saints take him if he's there?
Brandon Albert - The Virginia guard is projected to play left tackle and will be picked with one of the top 10 picks of the draft...the Chiefs at #5, the Patriots at #7, the Ravens at #8, and the Bengals at #9 will be his likely landing spot...Albert is being viewed as a better prospect than Boise State offensive tackle Ryan Clady.
from a draft board...................... |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
you know it is tempting. I think I would take him ahead of DRC.
Can Andy switch to C in two years? I am hoping for starters from the past two drafts. Bushrod is the guy to watch this year. |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
Absolutely not, and they better not, because he will be there at 10. I don't know why anybody would take a guard in the top 10, the value just isn't there. Our offensive line is good, and although I think you can never have too many tackles, good guards just aren't that rare. We need to move up and take a DT, trade down, take Rivers, or take a CB (in that order).

Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
Ya know the past few days I have been thinking along those lines. I think the Saints might surprise people and draft OL. There are some good prospects available at 10!!!
I don't think Andy will play Center. There is a reason for this but it excapes me right now. |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
you know, bushrod is getting a lot of good reviews.......
he could be ready......... and seriously, do you not take the bpa? if in fact, he is? someone's gonna fall, you just know it, but who? |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
one kidney and all the hype about DRC in the off season has not sold me on him. Way to much talent for him to be such a late climber. I am guessing it is heart or the lack off.
1. McKelvin 2. Rivers 3a. Albert 3b. Clady 4. Jenkins 5. Mendenhall 6. DRC 7. Otah This is how I have them rated at 10. with no one falling |

Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
DRC was a mid rounder on most draftnik's radars, it was the huge Senior Bowl and Combines that sent his stock soaring. You could say the same thing about most of these guys who are considered first round prospects now: who heard of Mendenhall before the Rose Bowl? We've been solidly drafting o-line for the past two years. It sure doesn't look like a weakness to me.

ummm i knew who mendenhall was before the rose bowl.. the guy had almost had over 2,000 total yards last year.. he was 1 yard short.. and he had 19 TDs |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
If they took It wouldn't surprise me one bit........ BPA

Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
I think Bushrod would be a beast at G. I guess Albert's versatility is really helping his draft stock. He's climbed tremendously since the combine. I have no problem with us taking the best player on our board regardless of position... but that player better not be Ryan. I'll jump off a bridge.

Is Alleman not ready to start? Ive heard alot about his mean streak and he was a projected a couple years to start, but why not try him out?

All our picks on the OL need to hit the field this year. Then we will know
|
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
If Rivers is there at #10, he will be the pick. If he's gone... Albert, Clady, Mendenhall, Williams, Otah, McKelvin, or Cromartie could be the pick. Who knows? They are going to pick the BPA on their charts regardless of need. As much as I hate to say it....if Rivers is gone, I'd bet my money on Mendenhall or one of the OL. So...I hope we either move up to get our DT or New England passes on Rivers & he falls to us. I don't want a RB in round 1!!!!

Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
Albert can play LT, so Move J Brown back to RT and trade stinch for a late 2nd rd pick?
|
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
I think they'll think about it but with Rivers there they won't pass up the opportunity to get the best linebacking corps in football back again.
Rivers, Vilma and Morgan. Damn, just damn! |

This is a good point. We are all bored out of our minds waiting for the draft, so everyone has a trade up, trade down scenario, but staying put and taking Rivers makes the most sense. No one could complain about the pick, and the front office could say that we drafted both BPA and filled a need. |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
Take him only if he is to be a tackle, guards just isn't worth being drafted in the top 10. If McKelvin is on the board then that is who they should take.

If Rivers is there I don't see them skipping him. Way too tempting to build a killer LB Corps. Jeezus BIG RON, who is the chick! Good Lord! |
Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
I don't like her hair. But since we are Saints fans it is customary to put a bag over our heads.

Re: would the saints take him if he's there?
How come you didnt throw fujitas name in there? you think morgan is better than him?

Fujita is second string, they'll ask Morgan to take over and as long as he doesn't bang his head against a brick wall the dome patrol will be back. |
