Tommy is the key to the bears D though look what happened to them when he went down.

Re: tommy harris or dorsey?

8 sacks from the DT spot that would be nice especially seeing how he is double teamed EVERY play and a great run stuffer.

...at this point, you put all your marbles in one bag and go to the draft and see what happens. To late for all the nonesense. I think its more likely we get Dorsey that Harris.

If we offered our first and a wr we mite be able to get a pro bowl ready to start DT who mite be the best in the game and is still young and still have the rest of our draft to improve other spots.

Well they just extended Urlacher and they can always use the franchise tag on Harris once he becomes a free agent. The likelihood of landing either is minuscule. There's going to be steep price moving up to 2. We have a better shot moving up and landing Ellis.

I agree on dorsey ellis thing but im not sure that they wouldnt at least listen and tommy mite be had for cheaper than dorsey and prob ellis because we would have to extend his contract. they would save money get a high first rounder and a starting wr for them.

Getting a guy like Harris would be very costly but would elevate the level of our defense enormously. Not only would our DT issue be solved for years to come but Will Smith's sacks would double.

My mistake... I mis-read.

The Bears' offer of a one-year extension for Brian Urlacher is reportedly worth $18 million.

It would allow for $4 million in escalators and a 2012 salary of $9 million. However, only a $5 million signing bonus would be guaranteed. Still, it's a pretty generous offer for a 30-year-old coming off neck and back injuries.

With negotiations ongoing, I'm sure something will get done soon. We'll have as much of a chance landing Harris as we did Haynesworth... practically nil. You don't let a 24 year old dominating defensive tackle, who hasn't hit his prime yet (scary isn't it), walk... that just isn't happening.

What if we could get Harris for next years first and a WR? Not sure how feasable that is. Then we could stay put or even trade down and aquire more pics. This could also allow us to go after Shockey. I don't know much about the value charts. That may just be a fantasy scenario.

Re: tommy harris or dorsey?

The ideal thing to do would be trade #1 for Harris. He is already proven and a top 5 DT in the league. Lets pretend that the Saints trade 2nd pick for Shocky then you are looking at new salaries for Pro Bowlers Harris,Shocky, W. Smith, J. Evans, M. Colston and J. Brown. Bush,Brees & Duece have big salaries. Too many big salaries is why you need the draft choices for the rookie salaries to balance the cap figures.
