I think the Patriots will likely select him leaving DRC as the best corner available for us to select should we stay at 10. It would be great to have him not only for his defensive play, but for the impact he could have on our return game. He could instantly be one of the best return men in the league possibly just behind Devin Hester from the moment he steps on the field.

thats very possible considering he ran a 4.27-40.....thats insane.....i think that immediately he will start as a returner leaving lance moore struggling to stay on the team...but i dont think DRC is ready, physically, to play in the nfl...he will lose tackles because he isnt thick and strong enough...i love his speed and i dont think it will drop that much after he puts on some pounds....i cant wait to see this kid in the future...whether the saints draft him or not

haha...again, it is you and i going back and forth....i think that DRC can contribute although not on an every down capacity...his physical play in tackling is a soft spot in his game although there are some nice shots delivered in his highlight video on CNNSI.com. I think that his ball skills is what will allow him to make an impact in his first season. I would expect his career to almost mirror the progression of his cousin from FSU Antonio.

haha i just noticed that too....the downfall of watching a highlight video is that its just that....highlights...it doesnt show how he plays on a consistent basis....if u watch clips of him that include his flaws you will notice that he jumps passes too much...i find that to be a big flaw too b/c nfl receivers and qbs will make u pay with cuts and pump fakes....DRC needs to bulk up...nobody argues that and tackling is a huge issue if he gets beat on a route since recievers are huge in the pros....i think he will be more of a nickel and dime guy than the 4-3 #2 corner that we need so desperatly.....in his first year i mean

BPA is Rivers over DRC or any RB outside of McFadden.

i disagree....if mckelvin is available at 10..he is the best pickup....he has the least amount of downsides and the most upsides....mcfadden wont be there....rivers wont be there....even if he is....rivers wont be our pick...we wont pass on a good corner

mckelvin is the only CB worth taking at 10, i think hes the only CB that would make an impact this year. sure drc has a lot of upside, but can we afford to wait 2-3 years on him?

and i still think rivers can be there at 10

i think that both DRC and mckelvin would be worth the 10th pick....we have our linebackers for this season and i dont think we can upgrade our linebacking core by drafting rivers.....i think that fujita is sufficient enough to hold down the 3rd linebacker position...i just think our biggest need is CB....until recently...everybody considered it our biggest need....for some reason ppl over examine all the players in the draft and now apparently our biggest need is DT?....i dont understand that...we need to draft mckelvin at 10...i truely believe it will play out like that

Is Mckelvin as good as DARRELLE REVIS. Unless the Saints are trading up to get him. He'll never fall to the SAINTS

i think DT is our biggest need. pressure up front wins games. not only that but have you seen the RBs we face next year? it doesnt sit well with me.

grant, portis, peterson, gore, larry johnson, LT, whoever denver has is always successful, i still think the raiders will draft mcfadden, earnest graham did well against us in the 2nd game last year. i dont think we're that great against the run, we didnt give up much per game due to the fact that teams could throw at will.

all of those teams have trouble passing the ball....u cant draft based on one year.....we need a DT but i have an idea they will move Charles grant to DT this year on certain occassions....we keep signing and trading for all of these CBs that are nothing more than sub-par....our biggest needs as u pretty much proved in ur statement is CB.....we got torched bc jason david sucked....i say that with the entire saints nation backing me

if we get pressure up front, our CB dont have to be stellar. denvers secondary was terrible last year due to no defensive line pressure. they have champ and dre, thats about as good of a duo that youll find in the league. and as far as drafting for one year, our DT are all ancient, and we need to get younger at that position in a hurry.

Thats a reach Q. Way to early to tell. I do not think he would have been drafted ahead of him.

I just have a question about the big topic of the day? If the cb position would be upgraded with more pressure on the qb why was only one cb constantly burned?

It was not the play of our cbs that sucked but the play of our front 7. Sure it would help if the qb never throws the ball because he gets sacked on every pass play. But lets be real MM didnt give up all those big pass plays JD did. No amount of pressure from the front 7 is going to help when a cb playing man-to-man bites on every play action pass.

CornerBack is a position of need but it will be a surpise which if any of these cbs we have ranked as a #10 talent. Pretty sure we have Rivers ranked that high and lb is a position of need also. I dont think they will count on Morgan as a constant and reliable starter and it will keep Simeneua on the sidelines.

Re: mckelvin works out for payton

At 10 we should take Rivers if he is there. What use is a CB if people can run on us? Also, CBs are a way bigger gamble than LBs in the first round.

I'd like to see us move up for a DT, but that will be costly. If we don't, BPA is Rivers at 10.

I don't think it is so obvious that a pass rush will automatically help the secondary as appears to be expressed here. Further, a good secondary will help the pass rush - but one CB won't improve our secondary that much, whereas one DT will improve our pass rush substantially.

Maybe I'm a bit gun shy on building the secondary when our run defense has struggled. A pass rusher will also play in the front seven and a good player will help more here against the run than a member of the secondary.
