Rams cannot negotiate........
 

According to Sirius Radio (Late HITS replay), the NFL has informed the Rams that they CANNOT begin negotiations with any possible draft choice at #2. The rationale is it will hurt TV ratings on Saturday! That is what is being reported.

this is the earliest that a pick has been signed.. and the rule even before this draft was that if the 1st pick is signed then the 2nd team still has to wait to the draft.. they didnt just add this rule.. its always been that way.. they could change it now but we will have to wait n see on that

IMO they wont change it... the NFL draft is a huge event now and they dont want to diminish it by allowing teams to sign players before the draft

I don't think they're saying that the Rams cannot trade picks with the Saints - the league cannot stop them from doing that. BUT, the league doesn't want them signing, or negotiating with any of their potential draft picks because it would ruin the surprise factor of the television event. So. There you have it.
