IF Rams take the offer tomorrow...

...swaping first and sending Brown over. You know where our 2nd pick is going??? Giants for Shockey. I find it very telling that offer changed from a 2nd to Brown.

Perhaps we can swap 2nds with someone for something before handing it over to the Giants.

Its a good deal for everyone - getting 2 starters for both teams is a good thing. Rams will get Brown and end up starting there DE at #10 Harvey. Well be starting Dorsey and Shockey.

Hey, I like it...2 starters... One impact player in each of our biggest areas of need.

Now what do we do about the ILB - CB??

I'd be happy with that scenario.

LB's we are ok... CB's will improve by default just by having any type of pass rush.

if the Saints get Dorsey, consider this a happy man. Defense : D

Rams aren't taking our offer. We will get Ellis at 7 or 8 if it happens at all. I'm not for trading LT Brown. OT is the second highest paid position in the league for a reason and Brown is an All Pro. Trading him may prove to get Brees killed/injured and Dorsey will not make that much of a difference if Brees goes down.

Was Brown and all pro last year??? NO? then he isn't an all pro. You are only as good as your last season. Can't hang on to people who don't perform like they are suppose to. This is the NFL.

I agree that we can't give enough to the Rams and picking Ellis would be great.

But, Brown is falling apart. Knees and penalties.

I would agree with the thought on our CB's (especially is U Young can make an impact)..

But do you really think we're good at LB? Fujita is the only one we know to be "ready". Now our new regime is know for taking gambles (personnel and play calling) but I think Vilma and Morgan are a huge unknown.

Well I don't know much about Morgan's situation but some say he's going to return to form and be a beast. Some think its the return of the Dome Patrol which I disagree BIGTIME. they aren't 'pass rushers'. I think with the addition of Dorsey, who can reak havoic and DL's will have to account for him freeing up our LB's to blitz, drop back into coverage.

Its basically supply our coaches with a lot of great options its just a matter of them using it. Which I do suspect will fall flat and we can start getting rid of Gibbs! He is going to make me so damn mad this season I know it.

I almost took issue with including Jamaal Brown in the trade up for #2, falling victim to his pro-bowl selection two years ago. Then I thought about the Tampa Bay game at home last year, when he let Gaines Adams blow his s**T up, into the back field and destroy an aggressive play call by Sean Payton, but nevertheless, a playcall that would have worked had Brown even put a finger on the guy. Throw Strief or Allenman/Bushrod (whichever one plays tackle) and we'll be fine.

He can go if we can get Dorsey, anyday!

best statement all day... he made a probowl.. big deal.. its a popularity contest... he doesnt play up to that level and it shows when he plays good comp.

Why Brown? move him back to RT. Trade stinch

pakowitz 04-25-2008 04:58 PM

As for LT Brown... what makes you think one off year and his career is over? If that's the case, what can be said for Vilma, Morgan or Deuce?

Player heal and get better. Besides, we don't get 2 starters if you lose Brown. You only get one. I thought this board was smarter than that.

Besides, we're drafting RB in the 1st. Didn't you read my post?

LOL ok thats funny.

Well we have to give up something expendable to us so we can not give up the second. What you have to ask youself is "DORSEY and Shockey worth giving up Brown for?"

expendable to us? Do not say that to Drew.

Who is our LT? Isn't Brown a better RT than LT? He is better than any other RT we have. He signed through 2011 and costs just over 700,000 a year.

Still I think this move is one year to early. Lets see what the bench can do this year first. then get cute. Safer to bet knowing what is in your hand than to bet on a blind.

Well you want to see what the bench can do... you have to take into account the coaches feel safe with this decision and they know something we don't.
Some draft picks were made last year and its time for them to come into their own now. I like it.
We were 7-9 last year, we got to make some changes.

hagan714 04-25-2008 05:47 PM

Re: IF Rams take the offer tomorrow...

7-9 after 10-6 and we are tail spin? Panic? No I think we are more closer to the 10-6 team than the 7-9. So panic is out. take your time and make sure. the draft is not that good. dorsey will never happen, IMO. #2 is just to high. now Shockey involved with Brown would make more sense. we should get something in return based on age alone. Shockey for Stinch and we add a lower pick makes even more sense.

Euphoria 04-25-2008 05:56 PM

Re: IF Rams take the offer tomorrow...

well then it should really upset up that there might have a deal done getting shockey for #40 and another pick.

I suspected something was a foot this morning that the offer to the Rams was no longer a seond rounder.

Moving up to #2 is to high... I don't see it... but giving up a #2 and something else to get Shockey is robbery.
