2nd round Poll
 

I wanted to see how everybody here felt about the Porter selection versus what might have been with Shockey.

Personally, I am all over the Porter pick. I love it. The Saints are fixing what is broken by building up this defense.
I was dreading the #2 pick for the Saints because I feared that they would indeed pick up Shockey rather than bring in a defensive player through the draft. I am one happy fella.

porter is a very, very, very solid pick and he has ties to la. already. he played high school ball at port allen.

I was a little disappointed at first... but everyone seems to really like the guy. Now I'm good with the pick... I just don't love it.

im a shockey guy all the way.. i definetly think we should have gotten a guy who would have helped open the middle up for colston and reggie.. holding those safetys over and keep the LBs from completly spying the flats... our offense is descent but it isnt as great as everyone thinks it is.. someone is going to say yea but we finished 4th in the league in total offense.. and i will say, we had to be really aggressive on offense b/c we HAD to score 30 points or more b/c we were gonna give up that many.. that caused our offense to give up a lot of turnovers as well as score points.. our D had already been improved with the vilma additions as well as gay n mccray and now ellis..

i like shockey....he could step in right away and make our already dominating offense that much better....porter is a backup in my mind

I was all for getting Shockey but since it didn't happen, I have to support the new guy. The more I look at things, I think Porter will be a nice pick. No sense in dwelling on what didn't happen. Especially when what we did get will probably be a decent pick.

I'll go with Porter on this due to the need at CB.

We have to remember that if Porter doesn't pan out that it wasn't the Saints fault that Shockey fell though.

While I think straight up you'd be out of your mind not to take Shockey, I voted for Porter for a couple of reasons. One, he fills a position of need for us and from reading his scouting reports, is a great man-to-man guy. Also, Shockey would have required the trade of more draft picks.
