Colston,Meach,Arrington....

This could be a really good group of recievers.Payton looks to be slowly putting together a group of big talented receivers....imagine these 3 on the field at the same time!

Man, I really hope McAllister is back to form come opening day. If he is, along with Bush and all these other weapons - then LOOK OUT.

Nice but for now I want Mech, Colston and Patton to lead the way. The rest I want to learn to catch. Stop dropping the ball and hold on to the pig skin

i think thats how it'll start out...i think meachem will start at the slot with patten outside and then they will flip-flop mid season....i like our depth at WR....i dont see it being an issue....the only thing i dont like is that patten is short...it hurts my madden offense lol

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

Drew to Patten is a tough throw. Kind of a lob pass. Those two can find the seems. this year will be fun. I think this is the year we will get to see really what the saints have been trying to build. On both sides of the ball.

i agree.....paytons 3rd season as head coach....i think this will be the make or break season to be honest.....if the building pans out then we will have a top franchise for years to come....if they fall thru then i think payton has to think about finding another job

I like the bricks they have pick so far. They almost have enough to finish the project. I honestly think we are close. Now we need to get them to gel.

again i think ur right on....while i think that this is a make or break season...i think our team is building up nicely and its definitly more likely that we will have a good season than fall apart....i love our chances

Gel as in the defense not getting torched early and often and the offese looking like they did at the end of the season. Some serious intensity is needed from them from the first game on.

A pass rush will make everyone look better on defense.

I especially was surprised with the Arrington pick. Never heard of him but after a little research came to the conclusion that Payton is a genius. If he works hard he has the talent to be a big time reciever sort of like marcus Colston.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

Loomis on Adrian Arrington...
“We liked the potential that he has and the level of competition he has played against and think that there is something there that we can work with,” said Loomis. “He has good size and ball skills and think that he’ll benefit from the veterans that we have at the position and from the coaching that he’ll get when he gets in our program.”

"He had a couple things while he was at Michigan. We spent a lot of time talking about it. Clearly, it was the reason why he wasn't drafted earlier," Loomis said, then added, "He's got a high grade on our board, talent-wise, there's no question."

Those quotes were from NOLA.com and the official site.

I think we might have a find here, guys.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

Payton didn't draft Henderson, so he might want his own WRs on the field.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

Henderson is a tease. Plain and simple. We all know what he can do ann we all say the same thing each year: Maybe. Just maybe, he will come around.
Let Patten do what he has been doing. Player coach for the young bucs. if he can get Mech to perform Hendersons days here all but numbered. Mech is our new speed guy. Lets see what falls out of trash for 5th and 6th spots. This should be a good battle.
Adrian Arrington is the one to watch as we all know. In the UDFA it was reported by NFL Draft Countdown that we signed
Todd Blythe - Iowa St. 6'5, 214, 4.61
I have not seen this confirmed anywhere else so I am holding my breath. If so he would be a great addition. Think a big tall Dallas Clark type here. TE/WR that loves to hit and be hit. If he comes into the mix it could become very interesting. This is a nice pet project.

I think Billy Miller will be a weapon to deal with- he just started to come on at the end of the season.

you guys keep talking about what if, when talking about Robert Meachum. I have to admit that I don't know much about him. He never played last year, even though he was our #1 draft pick. So would someone please tell me why you people are so high on him?

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

We're missing a Welker type receiver, and maybe Arrington is the guy. We need a receiver that can catch it over the middle and find daylight. When he is about to make contact, he needs to instantly protect the ball and himself. Sounds easy, but very few receivers have that knack for avoiding the big hit over the middle like Welker.

it is not so much that we are High on him, it is more that we all realize he is an important key to the future of the WR position. After Colston and Patten there are nothing but ??? We have all seen on the field already. We are going for those positive vibes here. He pans out to be a solid #3/#2 this year we are set at WR for a few years. next step is addressing all the back ups. Which I hope Arrington does. it would be nice to have a solid #4/#5 guy that can develop into a dependable #3 by next year.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

If we keep five WRs:

Colston, Patten, and Meachem (unless he gets hurt)

One or two of Moore, Copper, Henderson

At most one more.

I like the sound of Arrington, but that is because we just drafted him and I'm prone to buying the post draft hype.

I wish Henderson were dispensable, but it isn't obvious he is.

After Colston and Patten there is a sharp drop off in either reliability or talent.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

I given my analysis elsewhere in this thread I believe. Short version:

Colston, Patton, Meachum: Primary rotation

Copper: situational receiver and ST guy.

Henderson: bubble. will be gone if isn't productive.

Moore and Green: gone.

Arrington: Not sure. Won't clear waivers to make the practice squad. Not sure if he has a ST assignment that carries him onto the regular squad. Not sure if he's going to be ready to be in the regular receiver rotation. So do you put him on the regular 53 and keep him inactive as an effective redshirt?

Questions, questions.

Re: Colston,Meach,Arrington....

keepers
Colston, Patton, Meachum

replaceable
Henderson, Copper, Moore and Green

end of story

now carry
1 kicker instaed of 2 .
3 TE instead of 4

There is two more spots. Now if we can get a WR/TE type we could open up another spot.

So lets sit back and watch the rookie camps start and see if we got any surprises.

Yall are crazy if you think Henderson is a goner. He is staying put. Sean isn't going to let speed get away, he knows all to well you can't coach speed but you can coach someone to catch.

I have to be a bit brutal with Henderson.

Including college and the pros, Henderson has been coached by professional level staff for close to 8 years.

If dude hasn't learned to catch the ball consistently by now, what makes you think that he'll ever learn to do it?
