Re: texans take a swipe at reggie......
I don't buy this "he gets his yards up the middle" stuff either. Prove it. Show me a stat that says his yards per carry are higher up the middle than they are with offtackle or screen passes. Prove it.
Reggie gets his yards by eluding tacklers - not by running over them. |
Re: texans take a swipe at reggie......
i hate doing this but im dismissing just about everything ricky says as false....i wish reggie would bulk up a little just to get some meat on his bones...i like the way he runs and i wouldnt want him to get too heavy...nobody wants him to be a jerome bettis but i think its too much to ask of him to be an up the middle guy....the only thing he needs to work on is dropping the ball....he can get a yard or two just cuz he's reggie but ball possession is vital

Re: texans take a swipe at reggie......
I know he'll never be a Jerome Bettis, and I'm not asking him to be. But he needs to add another 10lbs. I don't want to see anymore arm tackles on this guy.

Ricky, you're the one that keeps saying "Reggie is better between the tackles", yet multiple people are calling you out on that. You refuse to back up your statement with any link, which you say you have, but don't care enough to share. I'm sorry, but your credibility is suffering on this board. |
Re: texans take a swipe at reggie......
two points here:
1.) i havent said reggie is better between the tackles. i said that his YPC is higher when he runs through the middle. 2.) stop being incredibly lazy and go find them yourself. just google "reggie bush situational stats" and you should find your proof. |

Re: texans take a swipe at reggie......
plus if the 10 pounds is all he needs then he can be a feature back....westbrook is arguably one of the best RBs in the NFL right now and he runs all over teams week in and week out....he is little like reggie...if reggie gets some weight....he may lose half a step but he may be better for it...like pak said....if he can be more patient getting to the line he can be great....that half step he loses may just be what he needs to excel

In regards to your second comment, lazy? No, that wasn't the reason we asked you to post your link. I ALREADY knew what Reggie's situational stats looked like. I wanted YOU to prove your point, which you did not. In a nutshell, Canton and I were calling you out. Show us your proof. Reggie's career stats up the middle are NOT his best statistic. Oh, we know his rushes between the tackles improved in 2007, we know that. But it was AWFUL in 2006. The coaches have learned (the hard way) that Reggie cannot be used as a power back. So now they're using draw plays and delays when running him up the middle, which they weren't doing enough of in 2006. The net result is his YPC is improving up the middle, but that's not because he can punch his way through the line, it's because the coaches have learned he can't be a power back. But all this goes back to my original post in this thread... what I've been saying all along. Reggie Bush's main weakness is that he simply isn't strong enough to run through tackles. When a lineman gets a hand on him, he goes down too easily. If he would just strengthen up, then the nay sayers out there would have nothing left to gripe about. All this talk of Mario being the better pick would be finished. THAT was the point I was trying to make. |
