Columbia (WLTX) - Former USC quarterback Blake Mitchell is going to get a shot to make an NFL team.

News19's Matt Barrie has learned through Mitchell's family that the quarterback has been invited to the New Orleans Saints mini-camp. He has not signed any contract.

Recruited by ex-USC coach Lou Holtz, Mitchell spent five years at USC. His most productive season was in 2005, when he passed for 2,370 yards and threw 17 touchdowns.

Another ex-Gamecock is also getting a crack at the pros. Linebacker Casper Brinkley has signed a rookie free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers.

During this past weekend's NFL draft, only one Gamecock--running back Cory Boyd--was selected.

Watch out Burbon St....... I live here in Columbia, SC and Mitchell is another Kerry Collins when it comes to partying and as much trouble as he has gotten in down in the Vista he stands no chance when he sees the likes of Burbon St.:no:

This kid's awful. Spurrier had a great line about this kid: "Well hell, we can't trade him so I guess we're going to have to coach him up."

If you're a quarterback and Steve Spurrier can't make you look good, there's something wrong.

Just someone to carry the equipment back to the locker room for the other QBs and get them Gatorade as needed. LOL... Seriously, what's the point in signing him?
