byron scott is a 5'10 wideout from southeaster louisiana....his numbers grew from year to year as they should but after looking for the past 10 minutes im not impressed with his output...it seems he is very athletic...he rushed for 62 yards his senior season as well as totalling 503 yards in receptions....and even attempted a pass....he averaged 14 yards a catch which makes him a first down guy....but he is undersized and aside from stats i have no game film or ne other breakdown to go on

I wouldn't laugh at anyone getting a tryout. That just shows the coaching staff and talent evaluators are constantly working to upgrade the team.

That would be like LOL the Cowboys just took a flyer on some guy named TONY ROMO or LOL the Saints just took some noname COLSTON in the 7th Rd hey what a laugher, the Patriots wasted a pick in the 6th on some scrub QB TOM BRADY HA HA HA!

You get the picture......

i think its kinda cool....im just not sure who he is...im from ohio and i dont get much info on the saints let alone ne thing else in louisiana....im just tryin to figure out if hes worth it....the stats dont impress me and if i am right i dont think that Southeaster Louisiana is a division 1 school....if he cant dominate a lower division i dont see him panning out in the NFL

CAGER, ROSS INK NFL DEALS WITH GIANTS, SAINTS

HAMMOND - Former Southeastern Louisiana football standouts Earl Cager and Byron Ross, who were each a part of the team's gridiron revival in 2003, each reached deals with a pair of NFL clubs.

Cager signed a free agent deal with the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants while Ross received a tryout offer with the New Orleans Saints.

Cager, a 6-5, 330-pound guard, started all 11 games for the Lions last season and was a second-team All-Southland Conference selection. The New Orleans native and former St. Augustine High product reports to the team's mini-camp on May 8 after receiving attention from several NFL clubs.

"I'm really excited about the chance to follow my dream of playing in the NFL," Cager said. "The Giants are one of the great organizations in all of sports and I look forward to going up there and representing my family and the University."

Ross, a former Kentwood High product, finished second for the Lions in receptions in 2007 and was Southeastern's top deep threat. The honorable mention All-SLC selection received a tryout offer from the 2006 NFC South champions after impressing scouts at Southeastern's Pro Day last month with a 4.34 time in the 40-yard dash.

"This is a dream come true for me in pursuing a career in the NFL," Ross said. "The fact that it's with the Saints is an added bonus and I look forward to competing next week and continuing my goal."

Cager and Ross are the second and third former Southeastern players who will be in an NFL camp this summer. Former All-American Felton Huggins spent the final 10 weeks of the 2007 season on the Buffalo Bills practice squad after joining the NFL in 2006 as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
