ellis should get some nice money.......
FALCONS SIGN RYAN
Posted by Mike Florio on May 20, 2008, 3:52 p.m. So much for those concerns that agent Tom Condon would take full advantage of the fact that the Falcons desperately needed quarterback Matt Ryan, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, under contract ASAFP. The Falcons have announced that Ryan has agreed to terms. Adam Schefter reports that the six-year package is worth a total of $72 million, with $34.75 million in guaranteed money. Jake Long, the No. 1 overall pick, signed only a five-year deal, but likewise received only $30 million guaranteed. Ryan is the second first-round pick to sign, and the fifth total draft pick under contract. The Dolphins signed three late-rounders on Monday. |
Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
geez, 72 mil without even taking a pro snap. 34 mil just for showing up. Man I picked the wrong career.

Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
So much for structured contracts according to your draft position. Either Long was an idiot or the falcons brain trust is dumber than a door nail.

Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
neither are great. they are college players that have not played a single down. More bounce money and yearly salary coming out of the draft two spots lower? STUPID MOVE BY THE FALCONS.

Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
Hey!!! Can you guys sense something? I sense a presence that I haven't felt since......Ryan Leaf!
Dumb Dumb Dumb move by the Falcons. Way too much money for Ryan. I could be wrong he could be the next Leaf....oh wait my mistake, I mean Doug Flutie. |
Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
Good. May the Falcons wallow in self-induced salary cap problems for all the years that follow.

back to ellis.....i dont think he will get as much because he fell out of the top 5....however...he will get more than last years number 7 pick....and the trend will continue until the NFL is inflated to the point of extinction |

I just hope the deal gets done soon.
Don't want anymore hick-ups than we already have. Need to nail down Will and Colston also. |
Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
Its just insane. They never played a down in the NFL, and you get an in sane amount of money a bonus to sign your name.
WOW ( owners ) are pretty stupid. Then the owners want to complain. You have to earn a spot on the roster yet you a boat load of money for not doin' a thing Hell let them earn it. |
Re: ellis should get some nice money.......
NFL contracts are like the snake oil peddled on pilgrims in the Old West; it suppose to cure you, but you feel more sick to your stomach later than before...
(Ben Stein) If a player doesn't like his contract that he signed, What does he do?!? Anyone?!? Anyone?!? He holds out like a Junior at Prom... Now if a Team signs a RB for seven years, the following year they get out of the contract and use...Anyone?!? Anyone?!? the "Salary Cap Hit" as an excuse not to pay other guys playing for their fans... F.U.B.A.R. |
