I doubt it even makes it to court.

Wow. This is a blow to the D-line and will cause unattractive media attention during training camp.

Damn Charles, see you in 2009. Regardless if Charles Grant is guilty or not, this has year long suspension written all over it. Gosh, how hard is it to stay out of the damn bars and nightclubs?

Re: Grant Charged

Why was he indicted for anything? Wasn't he attacked? What is he supposed to do? Let 'em kick his ass and stab him?

This has small-town attention-grabbing D.A. written all over it.

I have to agree with the latter post. Small town lawyers are crooked as hell, and this is the perfect way to be recognized. Afterall, Grant is pretty well known.

Re: Grant Charged

who didn't they charge? thats a long list of people. using a shoot gun to find one man. yep the DA wants names for this one. It is their only shot at 15 minutes of fame in the back woods.

Re: Grant Charged

that sucks....whether he meant to or not...if he killed the dude roger goodell isnt gonna let that slide....thats definitly a breach of NFL rules...not to joke about a serious matter tho

Re: Grant Charged

he didn't cause any deaths or anything like that, he'll be fine. probably no suspension, maybe a 2 game or a 4 game.

Concerning my dislike for Univ of Georgia; if Grant screwed up, my hate for Ga will be complete....

The DA, under pressure as he is over the tragedy of feticide, probably indicted the entire lot for behaving the way they did and allowing an incident with these consequences...

I try not to shift the blame but I have to wonder, what was a pregnant woman doing in a freaking bar?

Oh Wait...Light Just Went Off; a bar where only professional athletes and Sports Illustrated models can mingle, hosted by Hooter's Girls and Hawaiian Tropic Models who've done more than the local annual pageant; no posses, no scrubs, no weapons (I am an NRA member); drinks would be $20; complete anonynimity; limousine service home, or to her place to avoid State Troopers and such; Security provided by the NFL...

Let's see what ESPN et al does with about 35 minutes of dead air time once we franchise this thing in all 32 cities...

.. so you are saying anyone who defends himself should be indicted for "behaving that way"?

Seemingly, it IS a crime to defend yourself. Check out this text of the Grant indictment:

Re: Grant Charged

These players and even singers and movie stars will never learn.

They think they are untouchable and can get away with anything.

Now I don't think that Charles shot anyone, but he knew just like everyone else in that bar KNEW that club was prone to fights. He had too, he freakin lives there!

There are bars where I live that I know....DON'T GO IN THERE, YOU WILL END UP IN A FIGHT!!!! Stop babying these guys, Charles should have better known better than to go into that bar. I am real sure the class of people in that establishment where of the highest quality, I'm sure.

To some degree, I think some of these players are still kids (in their minds)living with grown-up money.

This is BS. Everytime I get excited about the season someone retires, is on IR or has to go to court. Reggie/Charles.

Re: Grant Charged

Charles will have the best lawyer in the house, bet on that. He will also plea self-defense on the IM charge. The local paper makes the biggest deal out of Grant's name and the guy who shot her is secondary. Makes me wonder...

Re: Grant Charged

If Four guys go into a quik-stop to get a coke, and one of the guys desides to shoot the clerk. All four guys are charged in some form. Even though there was only one shooter, the other guys are charged as a scare tactic to get to the real killer.

That's what is going on in this case.

Damn good thing we signed Bobby McCray. I think it's 50/50 Grant will not play.

SapperSaint 05-21-2008 09:39 AM

Re: Grant Charged

I'd give it a 50/50. Goodell will have some sort of punishment.

lynwood 05-21-2008 09:53 AM

Re: Grant Charged

I'd wait till more comes out factually about the case. Like when did the person get shot, before or after Charles was stabbed. Was charles fleeing to avoid conflict? Was he with the person that did the shooting? To me the charges so far, look bogus. But either way bad press and mojo for the saints.

As far as staying out of Bars and Clubs, I don't know if it was a seedy place or not but everyone has the right to a good time as long as they aren't jerks when they get drunk. Could have been a nice place and preg girl hit on charles and her drunk man didn't like it too much. Gotta get the facts.

Find out about the bar and how many times problems happen from it.

Re: Grant Charged

what other kinds of punishments has goodell handed out to similar offenders....if grant was in a scuffle he will get suspended especially if he fired a shot or had a weapon...thats what happened with pacman...if he actually shot the guy then he would be most likely banned from the NFL....thats the last thing we want...murderers representing our team no less the NFL

I hear what you are saying Donut.

However, I do have a couple of questions for those who think these guys have a "life" and should live it as if they were "Normal".....

1. How many of you have found yourself in the same perdicaments as PacMan and now Charles Grant?

2. How many of you were CEO's of a MAJOR Corp. at the time of said incident?

3. If you answered 1 or more times to question number one, are you still the CEO?

4. If you answered yes to question 3, what company do you work for, so I can stop using their product?

Guy these poeple do not have NORMAL lives. Do any of you know why?
Real simple......US, FANS!

Going to a strip club and beating up a stripper, going to a night club...get in a fight, get stabbed, a pregnant woman gets shot....getting busted at an airline with a bong pipe; is not NORMAL LIFE. It is ABNORMAL.

Charles Grant put himself in a situation that had the potential to go to crap, when he went to that bar/club with his "Friends/leeches".

These guys are taken advantage of by everyone who ever knew them. I don't know who the kid was in this years draft... but they kept showing him at his home in po-dunk USA, with everyone that ever knew the kid.

WHY???? Because he was about to get PAID!!!!

At the rookie symposium, I really think they need to go into greater detail about how their lives have just changed, and you need to look out for ME MYSELF AND I. Just my opinion.

I'll end with the words of the immortal, Don Cornelius:
"I wish you all Love, Peace and Soul".

I have thought about that before. When that whole Minnesota Vikings "love boat" thing went down I realized the NFL needs more discreet entertainment staffing.

Re: Grant Charged

Grant didn't shoot anybody. He was present. This is a HUGE reach to say he was involved in the death. Ray Lewis was more involved in his incident than this. Grant will be playing for us this season. If Marvin Harrison gets off and Grant gets a suspension I'm going to freak out really bad.

Euphoria 05-21-2008 05:21 PM

Re: Grant Charged

We don't know everything...

Grant was charged with fighting that night so some how some way he may very well have seen something or may even in some way contributed in someones death. We don't know unless you were there you don't know. He may have had nothing to do with anything or perhpas slightly.

Euphoria 05-21-2008 05:31 PM

Re: Grant Charged

Let me enlighten some of you.

Some professions hold you to a higher standard. Can you get fired from a job for being involved in this type of behavior... the anwer is without a doubt a big fat YES.

I severd in the military if you did or were someone what involved in situations like Pacman you would be kicked out or for you civilians - fired. Believe it.

I know if one of my employees were involved in some mess and other employees were concerned or afraid to be around them... guess what, I will have to let them go. You don't creat hostile work place. It happens.

NFL also has a responsibility and have every right to protect there product they put on the field day in and day out. The players who put on the uniform whether they like it or not they are role models and need to conduct themselves accordingly on and off the field.
