"Drew just pulled me aside out there and asked me if I wanted to do it," linebacker Marvin Mitchell said.

The charismatic playcaller also employed the same method to convince Eric Johnson to join the excursion.

"He asked me to go and I figured it was a great mix," Johnson said. "I could connect with my team and connect with the kids. It was a win-win."

u know the lame cliche from the spiderman movies "with great power comes great responsibility".i think this is dumb but clearly applies to ppl like NFL football players.i love that the players get out and do something for the community or the ppl of the area.it shows that even if they dont like doing it that they know these kids dont have a great life.and its always a special feeling to have someone come up and invite u to go fishing.especially when its a star QB like drew brees.i love these guys.they know exactly what they have to do to help out

it boggles my mind how san diego would give up on a guy like this for someone who acts like rivers does. a coworker of mine is a huge SD fan and she still gives me an evil look when i bring up drew.
