Re: Not welcome in philadelphia
I have to say guys, that being from England I have lived with fan aggression in sports for most of my life. Opposing 'fans' even text and arrange meeting points around the area to have a fight (this is mainly in soccer) Some of my colleagues even tried to tell me it was honourable to fight for your team. I cannot repeat how the discussion went but suffice it to say they were shocked at my venom. (I am normally a laid back kind of joker at work) The second game I saw at the 'Dome was against Atlanta and there I was with 5 other Saints fans in a sea of red shirted Falcons fans. Say what you like about the Falcons but that day I saw what true opposing fans are like. Friendly rivalry and a handshake after the game. I have been to eight games and every opposing fan I've met has been fine. Over here, there is always an undercurrent of hostility and wearing the wrong shirt would get the crap knocked out of you. Under no circumstances are the fans allowed to mix. Nothing wrong with having a shouting match as long as it is in good humour. Unfortunately, humour seems to take a back seat over here when soccer is concerned.
