Jets Defense.
I watched the Jets ..Titans game last nite...i have to say their defense is scary...they fly around and Ryan is bringing the heat ...they are awsome at hiding the blitz schemes...Drew will have to get rid of the ball quick..Kerry Collins holds the ball a lot longer ...so i dont think we will have as much trouble..the key is going to be left tackle...we will have touse a tight end and back to slow down the pressure on Drews blind side or it will be a long day...And as far as Dirty Sanchez...he didnt impress me as much as everyone is saying..he holds onto the ball and does seem to get rattled...I think we can force him into mistakes..D Sharper should get a pick in this one..Take away Cotchery and they dont have much in the way of receivers..One thing for sure is we need to jump on them fast and get a lead..then control the game with our running game...This will be the the toughest test for our offense but their offense is not that great..The Titans made too many mistakes and gave their offense a short field....Reggie cant fumble on punt returns...all in all we can win this game if we just play smart and use the power run game...The dome also needs to be rockin which i know it will...

Re: Jets Defense.
I agree with you about their D
they play ate a very fast pace as far as the final score, I hope your right |
Re: Jets Defense.
While I agree with your assessment, but I think the score will be closer.
Reggie Bush could have a big game if he gets through the rush. |

And I need a date with your avatar....
Saints 30 Jets 10 I think the Saints defense will dominate the Rookie QB. Saints force 3 turnovers. It becomes a laugher early (17-3) but the Jets keep it interesting (17-10) until the 4 quarter when the Saints once again dominate. |

Re: Jets Defense.
Jets defense id for real! buffallo and the Jets are in basically the same league.
The key is run it down there throats. smash mouth football always works well against a 34 defense. So I guess I agree. saints 24 - 17 |
Re: Jets Defense.
Frankly we need to get Reggie the hell off the field on punt returns. He just does not have a returner's instincts until the ball is actually in his hands. He has brutal ball security, cannot seem to feel the pressure of the coverage and does not know when to get the hell out of there. Too many times he comes very close to touching a bouncing ball. He scares me and I cringe everytime they punt to us. Put someone back there who knows how to run forward, when to fair catch, and how to simply put a ball away and not dangle it like he just caught a fish.

Re: Jets Defense.
It is because of games like these, that it is good that the Saints defense is better. The Saints offense might not score alot of point, but hopefully the Jets' offense won't either.

Our defense is the key in this game. There isn't a defense out there that can totally shut our offense down, but there a few that can slow it to "pedestrian". Our defense will be the deciding factor in those games - and this is one of them. |

That said, I am pretty nervous for Drew this week. I hope they can find a way to cocoon him in bubble wrap after he releases the ball. And yes, I will be LOUD in my Terrace seat Sunday. |
Re: Jets Defense.
Thanks Mike.....sometimes i wonder if they watch the games...lol...i see this as a tough battle..but very winnable....I know Drew is preparing well and if our run game keeps it up.....well we could be 4 and 0...

Re: Jets Defense.
An effective running game will stop this defense. They're going to put 8 in the box, run blitz and dare the saints to go out on the edge. Play action and traps have hurt this team, as well as big receivers. They play man a lot, which makes quick passes and rub plays important. Bubble screens mean that one effective block and it's a score. Watch for double moves from Henderson and Meachem.
On offense, Sanchez doesn't like pressure up the middle. He gets happy feet, regardless of what the press is saying. Force him to move against his throwing arm, where he makes his best mistakes. Jets think that they can establish the run early to set up his P-A. Not a lot of speed in their receivers that Greer and Porter can't handle 1-1. Play their "brand" of D, which is what the Saints have been doing without much fanfare, and you'll see the same amount of production as previous teams. Knock receivers off their timing early in pattern to make Sanchez work to find option as that's what he's been working on all week. No turnovers. Only key to the game. Foot on throat early and keep pressing and stretching that defense. Force the Jets wide - E-W early. |

Re: Jets Defense.
One of the most important things for the Saints to pull out a win is NO fumbling the ball or throwing interceptions! The Saints cant afford to give the Jets short fields and easy points!

I know a lot of guys here don't put a lot of stock in point spreads, but there is some logic/science/math behind them. The Vegas over/under is 46, the highest total in the NFL this week. We will see some points on Sunday. Saints 34-21. |
Re: Jets Defense.
Welcome aboard B&G. Weird having the site name, but hey, good idea.
I do think this is going to be a close game. It will have most of us cussing at halftime. This is going to be a good game. Glad your back Mike! |
