Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees
1 Attachment(s)
This one can be found on NFL.COM's site under the jets saints match up. Post was done by jdminline6. This guy actually believes what he pours onto the page. Any fans who want to give him an eye opener should do so. Normally I wouldn't encourage it, but this guy is a complete idiot. Soooo have fun. He'll probably end up crying when your done with him.
Here's the quote:"Saints will return to reality when Rex Ryan's Defense will terrorize Drew Freeze in the pocket.....he's a pocket QB, like Bady, like P. Manning....lets not forget Superbowl in 2008 when the G-Men dropped Brady 20 times and The Highest Scoring Patriots Offense that Year scored only 17 Points...Jets must protect the ball and their special Team will come thru BIGGG w/ short field TDs for Sanchez !! 23-13 Jets" |

Re: Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees
SO flame me if you will, but he is %100 correct about Brees being a pocket passer, that's not a bad thing. And pocket passers are easier to get to than someone like Ben or McNabb. Which is Why Peyton, Brady, and Brees have been given great O-lines to protect them.
Brees has good feet and a wicked 3 step drop which makes him much more elusive than most pocket QBs. But if our O-line doesn't hold, Brees will falter given he isn't a "mobile" QB. So other than his "Drew Freeze" and final score projection, I agree - If the jets dominate our O-line, Brees will not be able to make plays consistently. Hopefully, if that is the case our Run game and D will step up and keep the Jets D honest. |

Agreed, and I believe they will have to just pick their poison with US. And I wouldn't be surprised if they focus on shutting Brees down and make us beat them with the run. This is a game I'd love to have Bell and Moore Playing. PT and Bell with Moore in the slot would give their aggressive D fits.
My point about the guy's comments was that while it's short sighted, it held some truths. |

Psycho: Im not necessarily dissagreeing with him on the full comment I just think he gives Brees too little credit. So does the rest of the leage. I have never seen a QB in my 20 years of watching the NFL with his kind of talent. Though there are some arguably greater QB's duet to the championships they've won, Brees is still very underrated. |
Re: Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees
a pocket passer huh? maybe he hasnt seen drews pocket awareness which is pretty unrivaled in the NFL aside from big ben in pittsburgh

Ben got sacked only 46 times last year McNabb got sacked only 23 times last year whereas Brees got sacked 13 times... he's a freaking statue. That Brees doesn't run around the entire backfield like a chicken with his head cut off doesn't mean he's not mobile. He, much like Payton Manning, has tremendous pocket awareness and is able to use the pocket to his advantage, and has great footwork. That's why Brees doesn't get sacked, not because he's got a great o-line. While these "mobile" QBs are trying to run away from the defenders, Brees and Manning dodge them very effectively within a small area using the bodies and space around them. Brady is not as good, actually. |

Peyton Manning got sacked on average, nearly 18 times a season over his career pocket passers do operate in a smaller area but good ones like brees and manning are able to avoid the rush like you said brady is not elusive at all, he doesnt have great pocket awareness....he doesnt make the best decisions all the time....the reason he is listed in the top 3 QBs all the time is because of his rings and his offensive line that gives him ample time to make every decision on the football field.....when he gets hurried like against the giants, he struggles....brees doesnt |

Re: Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees
I just can't believe Brees is still being compared to Manning and Brady. I feel like Brady was over rated and Manning is probably the only other QB in the league that can compare to Brees. Manning and Brees work ethic are alot alike. This might be the year Brady shows his true colors. The only reason he was so explosive was because he had the supporting cast. Of course it takes a supporting cast for any QB to be success. The O line needs to get more love. Without them hed be getting sacked and hurried every down. Shout out to the O-line: Jonathan Goodwin, Nick Leckey, Carl Nicks, Jon Stinchcomb, Jermon Bushrod, Jahri Evans, Zach Strief, and Jamar Nesbit for doing such a good job on protecting Brees.

Re: Dumbest comment I have ever seen on Brees
His comment about "pocket passers" is ridiculous. Look back thru history and tell me how many running QB's have won championships in the NFL? Maybe a couple but all of them were able to stand in the pocket and make the throws necessary to win.

There have been few great QB's who could also run the ball well when necessary... John Elway Steve Young Johnny Unitas I think Doug Williams was a decent runner too. But if you mean the real running QB's like Vick and Vince Young, yeah, I'll take a so called pocket passer all day long. |

Williams wasn't a running QB. Maybe you are thinking of Warren Moon? He wasn't a "running" QB but he took off when needed. There's also Staubach, Tarkenton, Cunningham, Gannon... I guess is all semantics... someone says "pocket passer" and people think Drew Bledsoe or Byron Leftwich, guys who stand there and literary don't move. Maybe we should have another term for QBs who are able to move efficiently within the pocket. |

i was just thinking, when i think of running qbs my mind goes to guys like michael vick, steve young, and randall cunningham i think the situations are different for many of them tho because steve young and randall cunningham ran because they could rather than because they needed to......michael vick had a terrible offensive line in atlanta and had to make plays with his feet |
