Releasing Olaniyi now makes him eligible to play this season if the Saints resigned him after clearing waivers. But is there a need for him right now?

Brunell isn't getting any younger. Brees needs a good backup for mop up duty.

I was surprised when we released Chase Daniel. At the time it looked like we might be going in a different direction. I don't believe that Drew is looking over his shoulder.

I do not think they are going to bring Daniels up to the active roster hopefully the PS will be his spot. I think this guy is going to stick and eventually take over for Brunell. Why do it now unless Brunell is hurt? Haven't seen that on the injury report. Someone else is coming off the PS or they are after somebody.
