FinFan Here
Just wanted to say good luck this Sunday although I think we may be the ones that will need some luck more then you. Wow the Saints have just looked unstoppable this year. I am really happy for you guys after everything your city has been through you truly deserve a great team. I just hope your one loss comes against us and then I'm pulling for you the rest of the way. Unless of course we both make it to the SB but we are still missing a couple of pieces so I'm not seeing that this year but maybe next.
Anyway on to the game. In all honesty this game is a huge match up problem for us (and every other team in the league) Our secondary is very talented but young and prone to make mistakes. If our running game can't keep you off the field this could be a long day for us FinFans. I think this game could be a lot like the Colts game for us if everything goes right. We just need to finish drives and tackles. We had the ball 45min to 15min and still lost that game because we gave up to many big plays. The problem I see that you have even more weapons then the Colts so our coaches need to come up the game plan of their lives on defense. On offence we now have a QB behind center that has a big time arm unlike Penny who couldn't throw the long ball his life depended on it. This will at least spread the field and help our runners with even bigger holes. We both have great 'O' lines Sorry this post is kind of all over the place but I'm writing it kind of fast and figure I'll be able to talk in more detail about the game when I respond to your comments. |
Re: FinFan Here
Thanks for a civil post. Everyone on here is on cloud 9 with the team. It's hard to find much to complain about.
But I really hope we don't have a let-down game against the Phins. It's tough to come off a win like the one we just had and keep that level of intensity up. Plus, the phins are built to be momentum killers with that clock-controlling run game. We may be without a starting OLB (Fujita has a strained calf and is questionable) and one of our run stopper DT has been out for the last 4 games (he's close to being ready, though). We'll need both of them to slow Ronnie and Ricky down. Henne has looked really good in limited action, too. I didn't realize he had such a cannon. Definitely a new wrinkle for a team that was dangerous to begin with. Good luck. |
Re: FinFan Here
I can't wait to see how the Saints D is going to stop the Wildcat.

Re: FinFan Here
Don't worry... we're already finished off most of the division for you.
Just 2 more to go. |
Re: FinFan Here
Thanks for the respect, FinFan. The Dolphins have been playing well in prime-time games and are a little underrated right now. Hope Jason Taylor makes the HOF someday, he is a class act.

Re: FinFan Here
Welcome to the Board. You guys were good against the Jets. That was my first time watching the wildcat. Henne is a darn good Qb and Ginn looks like he could have a breakout year. I feel sorry for Pennigton he seems to never catch a break and was always critcized for his arm strength.

Of course I got jumped on like I just called Marino a homo or something. Some fans can't put wins and losses into perspective. With that said I really hope we can pull this upset because it would give us a huge leg up on the rest of the East. Plus the perfect season thing, it's always nice to knock off an undefeated team to help keep that record here in Miami. From what I've seen your the only team with any kind of shot at doing that this year. |

Re: FinFan Here
Another wrinkle is the Payton/Parcels history. Payton basically came up under Tuna and when we went to Dallas in 06, we straight up embarrassed them on national TV 42-17. Payton had Brees kneeling on the Cowboys 4 yard line with 2 minutes to play.
I know Tuna isn't calling the plays, but he's still "buying the gorceries" and I doubt he's forgotten that. |

Re: FinFan Here
This is going to be a good game. Fins are solid and up coming. Hunger is a good thing with a young club.

Is Tuna totally on board with the Wildcat? If so, was he for it from the beginning? Reason I ask is, it doesn't seem like something he would like. I think Tuna would like the power running aspect of it, but not the "unconventional" aspect. Good luck! No injuries or bad officiating! |

Like you mentioned in your comment, the wildcat is really just a power running play. The bonus is you get an extra blocker and some misdirection at the same time. Generally if you run a power run up the middle the 'D' can just meet the runner at the point but with the misdirection with Ricky sweeping across you can't fully commit all your momentum to the point or Ricky will get the edge on you. With Ronnie's power and quickness to the hole it's already to late by the time the 'D' knows and if he catches a defender standing up instead of coming forward it's over. We also have a very nasty O-line that gets a big push along with a lead blocking FB (Lou Polite that reminds me of Lorenzo Neil) he punches gapping holes with bone jarring blocks. The reason we can run the wildcat better then anybody is pretty simple really, Ronnie Brown. He may be the most versatile player in the entire league. Here I'll put it like this, A lot of teams fans could say well why don't we throw the ball all over for like 400yards and 3-4 TD's a game like the Saints? Well because they don't have Drew Brees just like other teams that try to run the wildcat don't have Ronnie Brown. Good luck and I'm hoping for no injury's. |
