Saints giving up 8.2 ypc avg facing Wild Cat plays

I think the Dolphins will move the ball well. Will we get into the end zone? For most of the season we have not done well in the Red zone. We're improving each week. I'd hate to trade field goals for touchdowns with the Saints.

But here is the reeealllly interesting thing that jumped out at me. The Saints have faced a Wildcat type of run play six times this year. They have yielded 49 yards on those plays. That's an 8.2-yard per play average yield against Wildcat plays

We will see how much ya'll run the wildcat when you are playing from behind.

Are you going to run that 100% of the time?

What are you going to do when you're behind by 20?

I like these stats better

Saints are 5-0
Saints average victory margin = 3 TD's

I guess we're beaten then. Want me to congratulate you now, or after the game?

Pretty small sample size to be drawing conclusion from.

That would be like me saying, everytime we've faced a no.1 defense, we scored 48pts and ran up 500 yds on them.

That is correct.
The Saints saw the wildcat for the first time in Philly. The Saints did not have any tape of the Eagles running out of that formation and caught them by surprise. It was VERY effective.

And if I am not mistaken, the game ended 48-22 .

who dat boi

averages are always skewed until you get a big sample size....this was the issue i had with people talking about PTs ypc average last season but thats another thread/topic

the wildcat meant nothing to us against the eagles......we were blowing them out and they were trying to pull a fast one on us....who cares about an 8.2 ypc avg when we have a 38 ppg average and are only allowing 18 ppg

Your absolutely right...it was "effective" and did probably take the Saints by surprise. I was happy to see that Philly got away from the "wildcat" and ran a more "conventional offense". I am however concerned at how efficiently the Dolphins run the WC offense. This game should be a good test for our Defense and GW.

The Dolphins treat the play as if it were a formation in their offense. Most other teams treat it as a gimmick, so, their success rate is low. Last year we had 4 types of plays out of that formation. We've added more to it this year.

A lot of the media mentions QB Pat White as being a part of it, but I haven't had a lot of confidence with him in it. He looks very pretty scrawny when he carries the ball, and when he throws the ball ... well, the only thing he's hit so far is Bill Parcells' golf cart;) Still, from what I've heard, they've had two weeks to really concentrate on getting him to be a part of the Wild Cat during their extra week due to the Bye. I'll bet you won't see it. We usually unveil the new stuff when we're facing our AFC opponents.
