Bar fight avoided

2nd time in my life I was out of my league all of a towering 5'4 and a little tipsy where I felt I needed to go after someone.

Saints down big and Miami fans here in LA cheering and that is well and good but one yelled "SAINTS SUCK!". I let it go but when we took the lead and I turned around to go after them they had quickly paid their tab and left.

We have slowly built a faithful fan base of 6 people showing up for every game in LBC. But its getting a little rough in there the more games we win in a row.

Ashley ... I grew up in SLC ... You may be the 2nd Saints fan EVER from Utah!!!

Re: Bar fight avoided

Well you can try to start a bar fight but what really helps is that you have some VERY trustworthy friends with you that would hold you back so to avoid it... but I just started hanging out with these guys and I was going on faith. LOL.

The other time was at a strip club in VA against a Biker gang... to this day I don't know what I was thinking but at least my Navy buds held me back just enough. Me 5'4 and biker guys could easily pass for NFL LB's. Alcohol can get you in a lot of trouble.

Re: Bar fight avoided

well, my old man had to tell me to settle down and shut up today. I was at the game, and the MIA fans were very hospitable overall.

My bad first encounter was with a guy who said "There's a lot of Saints fans here- I hope they're better than the Jets fans." I turned around, smiled and said, how can we not be be? His reply- "Whatever." Hey dude, you don't want so many visiting fans in your house, sell your games out.

Later, sitting thru the worst half of football in my life, 5 frat boys two rows behind me were screaming at anybody and everybody in black & gold- cursing, taunting, calling out Bush (B-U-S-T) and others, real jackass stuff. Anyway, as we started to come back, I couldn't resist yelling back, especially when Bush scored. I might have mentioned that I'd take Bush over Ginn, that even if we lost we'd still have 5 wins, and that they lived in the NeverLaids.
My dad quickly reminded me of where we were and that I am 43 and 5'5.

Oh well, great half equals great win. Who's next?

HA! You noticed who didn't start returning punts though... lol. Less and less touches. Lets hope he keeps doing plays like that when he does and we'll see if he can turn it around. But I did get in a slight argument with one of the guys who roots for the Saints because of his USC peeps. I said I'll let him have Reggie back. LOL.

little man syndrome strikes again......lol just kidding buddy....its good to have friends helping to hold you back like that.....maybe you'll hit a growth spurt and people will have to start backing down from you lol

or maybe when drew hoists that lombardi trophy people wont have to start a fight, they'll just know we are better

HA! Unfortunately I don't think I'll hit any more growth spurts at my age just waiting for it to start going in reverse.

Just seem really rude and way out of line at a bar to yell that. They sure the hell went running fast when it looked like the Saints were about to take the lead so they wouldn't have to face it. That was the funny part - the cowards.

chicken****s. You know, we've taken so much crap over the years, and I dont leave early, so those guys were real chicken****s. but how sweet it is to come back.

Its cool that you're just as tough in real life. A lot of guys are only tough on the net.

Good thread, Yoof! Next time you have some trouble, just call me up and I'll bring Zach Strief to straighten them out: (see attached)

On the punt returns, Reggie is still the first choice on returnable kicks. Lance Moore seems to go back as returner when we are receiving the punt closer to our own endzone. Before the malfunction of the replay clock yesterday Bush was coming out to return the punt but when they couldn't review it and gave Miami the first down and the extra 10 yards that's when Moore came out and actually he should have let that punt go because it probably would have gone in the endzone. Instead he fair caught it on the 8 and then we had back to back penalties which led to the Brees pick on 3rd and long.

Where is this bar in Long Beach? I must be the only Saints fan heading to the Hooters out here in Anaheim, just to catch a game. I'll be more than glad to join up for a game with other Who Dats. Strength in Numbers.

Its called Smooth's. Its a great place especially for the early games they have a breakfast menu!!! The Manager hooks us up at the bar with one of the TV's there. One guy cheers for all USC players so by default a Saints fan now. Another one will be trying out this off season for the Raiders as a DB. You'll fall in love with the 2 hot chicks that started showing up wearing Archie's throw back jersey.

There is a Hooters 3 doors down but I find this place far more better for watching the games.

I second this thought. I can sit up in the Terrace, and roar for my team, without being a jerk to visiting fans, come a way a winner, and have more fun. Those visiting fans are spending money, helping ensure the survival of my favorite city, and hopefully I can visit their stadium & not get snowballed. I want them to visit Lousiana, and have a great time, except that their team loses, and next year, when they're budgeting road games, we're #1 on their itinerary. Also, I like the way fans
in other cities not in our division seem to like us. I'd like to keep it that way.

"But they do it to us" is a sorry excuse. Ever notice how every city's fans are extra motivated when their team plays Philly or the Raiders? I'll bet if you asked their players, they would say, "We like all the yelling and rowdiness, but wish our fans would reel in the over-the-line behavior."

If we play the Bears in the playoffs, I'm not gonna abuse their fans, but I
might wear some styrofoam "yellow snowballs" just to make a statement about their fans behavior.

Lets be winners in every way.

I used to hit Pine St. all the time. There's a good, cheap taco place across from the Hooter's (used to eat lunch there a lot). Don't know if Aladdin's is still there but they have good eats and hooka. If you guys haven't been to Isaac's Cafe on Fries Ave. in Wilmington (about 5 min from Pine St. on Aneheim) you MUST get a Carne Asada or Jones Burrito from him...best food in all of L.A.

Boom. High five dude... I feel the same way. You know what, when people see 'New Orleans' on their team's schedule, they circle it. They call their buddies and plan a trip, they talk it up all year, they drink, they eat and they party. Me, personally, I'm happy to see other teams' fans in NO, bc they are contributing to the preservation of one fine city!

As a matter of fact, last week I hugged a Giants fan (and his hot wife) and gave them a few local spots to enjoy. I handed them a card and said "call me if you need anything"... Now that's New Orleans! ;)

I got way too drunk on Sunday. After watching the first half, me and Tony just started downing pitchers. But, in our drunken stupor, we both decided to stick to our guns, and not give up the game. Thank God we didn't, because honestly, this was the best game I've seen the Saints play all year.

Now I do owe an apology to a bartender, and a customer there, as after WAY more beer, we started making fun of soccer. I hate soccer, but I had no right to upset the people that like it. So, I will be apologizing bigtime on Monday night.

Went to the game, on the way in there was this jerk of a Dolphins fan who yelled "Katrina is coming, second edition" I didn't even bother to respond. Happened to meet the same guy on the way back to our car and I told him "So that was Katrina 2 you classless piece of s***". He recognized me but did the smart thing and kept his mouth shut.

Well said. It doesn't hurt us that if a fan has the money to travel to one away game a year, most times it's going to be New Orleans. Let them come down and spend their money. Miami wasn't as welcoming.

My dad and I watched the end of the Steeler game with 3 Dolphin fans that we just met, and had a great time. Once in our seats it was a little different.
Who yells "Saints Suck" when the team is 5-0, and you see them once every 8 years?

My other takeaway was the amazing amount of foot traffic at the game- there were people going up and down the steps constantly, getting up in the middle of plays, standing in the aisle talking on their cells phones. Sit down and watch the damn game, or at least let me watch it.

Oh that would annoy me at the dome, thankfully the usher in our section has a good grip on things and is quick to make people move and get back to their seats

skymike 10-28-2009 03:59 PM

Re: Bar fight avoided

My section's pretty into it, and plus our seats are in the middle of the row, which solves the butt-in-your-face problem much. Im pretty happy with my neighbors, who seem overall quite considerate of each other, nice and loud when the game's on, but they relax during the down times too. We're all kinda middle aged, so there's just the right mix of stand up/sit down.

We do have a glitter-confetti thrower, but he's such a nice, and really charming kid, you cant really get annoyed with him. I just cover my beer, and my neck, and go with the flow. He even broke my little finger, during the Jets game, but I'd never tell him about it. I dont want him to lose his enthusiasm.

Top row guys, yall need to get back into the "beating the wall."

RaginCajun83 10-28-2009 05:07 PM

Re: Bar fight avoided

Our seats are in the middle of our row but the guy that sits at the end gets up like 5-7 times a game, its not a big deal cause at least he waits till nothing is going on to get up and move, he doesn't make much noise and kinda keeps to himself unless there is a big play or something

Couldn't agree more ... need more wall banging on defense
