Why the Saints need to keep marching towards HFA in the playoffs.

From the TP:

First and 10: New Orleans Saints DBs are secondary to none this season | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com

Quote:

Fact of the week: The Saints are unbeaten at home and have won nine of their past 11 games in the stadium dating to 2007. They have scored at least 24 points in all 11 of those contests and are averaging 34.6 points a game during the run.

Just win the next game. After that everything will settle into place when it comes to HFA.

I've got one word for why we need HFA: Chicago.

Anybody who has watched the Saints play a defensively-oriented team in cold weather understands our need to get HFA.

TheDeuce,

I froze my butt off in person for that game.

As for one game at a time... As Danno has pointed out on multiple occasions, I have no other affiliation with the Saints other than being an ardent fan. I don't have to think things through one game at a time. I happily dream about the Saints being 19-0 and my being in Miami at the SB when the Saints hoist the Lombardi trophy. Just because Reggie shouldn't dream doesn't me that I have to.

Really really need home field advantage. There shouldn"t be any question. Play in our dome = we go to the super bowl.

Home field doesn't really mean much anymore. Arizona, had one home game in the play offs last year, the NFC championship game. The Steelers were a wildcard their first superbowl of the decade, and so were the Giants if I remember correctly. That's 2 out of 3 winners, WITHOUT homefield advantage. It's all about the team itself. Not saying I don't want it, just saying it doesn't mean as much as it used too.

Didn't mean that much to those teams because they don't have a offense like we have and need in order to win. Outside in Chicago... no way, play in our dome and I'd say we have a slight advantage.

i think the games today should be a reminder that we havent done anything yet. Carolina beat a good cardinals team that is similar to us (though i do feel we are better in a lot of ways.) Philly has looked good the last two weeks after dropping the ball in oakland. The cowboys are sadly starting to put things together and minnesota is still right on our tails for HFA.

Its far to early to do anything but look at this weeks match up.

hmmm.... no.
You conveniently are forgetting the wild card game the Cards played at home, so that's 2 out of 3 playoff games played at home. Since your timeline is delimited by the 2005 Steelers, you also conveniently omitted the Colts who played 2 out of 2 playoff games at home in 2006 and ended up winning the SB.

You are also mixing SB winners with non SB winners. If you look at teams that reached the SB but lost it in that same timespan: the Eagles played 2 out of 2 at home; the Seahawks played 2 out of 2 at home; the Patriots played 2 out of 2 at home; the Bears played 2 out of 2 at home.

i almost :dead: when i realized i agreed with everything TR just said

there is always an exception to the rule......like arizona last year.......but how beneficial would it have been to have home field advantage against the bears in '06......the game might've ended up differently.....the only thing that would've made this season better would've been a super bowl in the dome.....thats true homefield advantage

The other thing you're forgetting is that the Steelers and Giants are cold-weather / northeast teams already, so a home game in a cold climate doesn't impact them as much; they're built for it (Plus one of Pit's away games in 05 was in the RCA Dome, and one of NYG's away games was in Dallas, the other in Tampa). Arizona's one road game last year was in Carolina - hardly in the same league climate-wise as Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, etc in January. If that NFCCG last year were in Philly, it would have been an all-Pennsylvania super bowl.
