flattery will get them nowhere.

Im going into every game, like its 1986 and we're playing the 49ers.

Dont listen to the flattery, enjoy it if you enjoy that stuff, there's nothing
wrong with that, and really I understand.

But for some of us older fans, we're on a mission. Not that I'm not gonna
smell some roses along the way.

I feel where you're coming from Mike, but I can't tell you how much you sound like my dad lol Admittedly, I am somewhat of a jaded fan...always have been. I'll follow the team through the off season/mini-camp/preseason and feel every year like we can do it. And I get all too excited when we get a little praise from the media....we've come such a long way since the paper bag era. My dad though, needs results. He won't claim to support them because of the constant disappointment he's endured over the years. His mind is still in a time when the 9ers ran the NFC West and we were perennial doormats. Even now at 7-0 he refuses to show any emotion, instead insisting that things will fall apart in a minute just like they did in 91 (losing 5 of the last 9)

To each his own. I'm loving every minute of it and can't wait for the fat lady to sing so that the Lombardi can FINALLY come to N.O

oh, no, Im not jaded at all, Im just as pumped as all the kids--- believe me, Im driving around Houston with a huge shoe-white fleur on the back window of my truck and a big "7-0." I'm sitting in a studio that, before the season started, looks like a black & gold shrine, and I think I've worn my Reggie 3 days this week to work.

I was one of the ones on this board who said before the preseason, that I thought this year was gonna be The Year, when everyone else said, "oh no, you're gonna jinx us, " to which I say, who's scared of a little jinx, when you have a big Curse?

Naa, my point was I've passed the age where I care what sports pundits say. I remember sitting around waiting for them to say something good about us in the old days, like a dog at the table. It is cool to see all this Saints love, even on ESPN, but I'm much more excited just walking down Poydras, enjoying the crush of the Black & Gold victory parade back to the Quarter. I like it when WhoDats pass alongside me on the road, see my Saints stuff and honk at me. And, of course, its great to see this board get pumped up too.
