Ellis' spraind MCL was supposed to be 4-6 weeks. He's been out for 4 weeks now. He should be coming back online soon. Greer has a groin pull. Likely if yesterday was a playoff game he could have played, so not too serious. He'll be back. Porter. Man I just feel sorry for the dude. He just cannot catch a break. Sharper was in the same boat as Greer. He could have played if he absolutely had to. So at the end of the day, we've lost one starting CB. The rest just need to heal. The injuries absolutely suck. However it gives us the opportunity to draw on the bank of the 9-0 start that we have. The Saints would have to have a total collapse at this point to lose the division. The Saints are so far out ahead that they actually have a magic number for clinching the division: 3 games. And it's becoming increasingly clear that the NFC playoffs is going to be played in Domed stadiums. There will be no butt freezing in New York or Philly this playoff season. So as poorly as the Saints have looked the last 4 games, and as injured as the defense has been, at the end of the day, the three most critical games the Sants have left are the three playoff games they will play in January and hopefully February. So guess what? Let Sharper and Greer sit another week. Sign Parsons off the practice squad or pick up a free agent CB if you need to. Give Jenkins a full week of practice at the #2 slot and hope that Gay can hold on another week. Give Young more experience and let Sharper coach him this week on making better calls and being in better position. Rest Ellis another week too. While the run defense has been challenged, frankly it's been against 3 of the best backs in the game recently. The Saints only need to do one thing right now: clean up the turnovers. A turnover free game next week would practically guarantee a win despite a banged up defense. The Saints have three objectives they have to fulfill the rest of the regular season: Win the division, secure a playoff bye, and get healthy for the playoffs. Even if that cost the team two or three games, being healthy for the playoffs is more important than any supposed winning streak. With the Falclowns having to travel to play the now rested, and pissed off Giants who have been rejuvenated by the Cowgirls wetting their pants in Lambeau, we could have the division locked up by December 1st. Get to the playoffs as healthy as possible. That's the goal. SFIAH |

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. Last edited by SaintFanInATLHELL; 11-16-2009 at 10:02 AM.. |
