I am still not sold on Brees or Payton from a loyalty standpoint. The talent is there for both, no question, but what does the future hold?

I think Brees wanted to go to Miami but they didn't offer him enough. If I'm not mistaken, NO was the only team willing to take a chance on him by offering big money.

Also, I'm not sure Payton will stick around if he wins a championship. I'm thinking he is the type of guy who wants to be in the spotlight, which NO definitely is not...and would bolt for megabucks. (TC's getting on in years up there in the Big Apple.) JMO, though, and I hope I am wrong.

Quite the supposition without the substance.
Drew Brees has been quoted a saying that he feels that he is a true New Orleanian and has been a big part of New Orleans since his arrival. Remember the "We are New Orleans!" chant from last year? Yeah you don't like it but regardless, Brees has only appeared loyal to the Saints.

You're guessing on Payton too and I can't do anything but guess that he likes it in New Orleans as well. One would have to think that since he found success in New Orleans it would be silly to build all of this up only to start all of this over somewhere else.

Brees bought a house down the street from Archie if I'm not mistaken. He's here to stay.

I don't believe that Brees is going to turn his back on this city. And I just can't see Payton bringing this team back from the brink and then leaving it. We don't have to be a big market team to make him happy..we have to we just have to play like big market team that knows how to win. I think our two biggest leaders Payton and Drew are joined at the hip like Siamese twins and will be happy in N.O.

I always respect what you say LB but you are totally wrong. I worked with these guys this mini camp and got to know Drew and coach personally. They are the real deal and are here to stay. I will be with the team full time next season and I will get to know even more as time goes on.

Hey, guys...I do a lot of thinking out loud, especially in the early morning. I thought I was pretty clear that I was speculating, which I tend to do a lot. I will say this, however. I don't think Payton is going anywhere voluntarily unless he wins here. If he does win and choose to move on, then we will be pretty happy just to have the Lombardi, so his leaving would be easier to take.

I do feel, though, that if the conditions were right he might take his act to center stage...and like everyone said, since he and Drew are joined at the hip, it wouldn't surprise me to see him follow.

You guys are right when you say that I don't have any substance to make this speculation, I am just going on my ability to read "character" or "personality" in a person, and I have been pretty good at it up to this point in time in my life. I could be totally wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time, but it will take us winning or at least appearing in the SB for us to find out, so that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Again, I hope I"m way off-base here.
