The Patriots are officially clowns

Down by 21 with 4:30 to go, you pull Brady, Moss, and Welker on the bench. Oh my God what a bunch of tools.

i think it was a pretty smart move.. no reason for them to get hurt when they still have games to win.. they still in the hunt for their division and still can make the playoffs...

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

For a team that prides itself on never being out of a game, it was the move of a total whiner.

Think Peyton Manning would have come out of that game?

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

yes.... they werent going to comeback and win.. why risk the injury... the game was over.. they knew it was over... they conceded...

Smart move. I wish Payton would let Hamilton get some carries in situations like this.

Shows that they gave up and are really *****'s. You would expect more for the class of the NFL.

You could see the doubt creeping into Belichick as the game went on. He just wanted to get away from this spanking without any injuries. This game was over early in the fourth quarter. The play was so bad he even benched Brady....ha!;)

during the game i saw a real close up of tom brady with a blank stare in his eyes after he was sacked. id love to see a gif of that sack and the two interceptions then him walking away with that blank stare.

The "two hands on the helmet look" is simply priceless.

Clowns? That's harsh and in my book, classless. The Pats came into this game with nothing but respect for our squad. We played hard tonight and we came out on top. With us being up so much at that point in time, why risk your players getting hurt for what matters the most... the playoffs. Hats off to the Pats for not being sore losers.

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

I see it both ways... classless.

They came down on him about the call in the Colts game they should come down on him for this just as much. "Didn't have faith in his Defense in the Colts game well then he didn't have faith in his team to leave them in".

I like the move in a way because it kind of gave us respect! Yes, you beat us bigtime, props to a good football team that is amazing.

Why do you see teams down by 10 with 1:30 to go calling timeouts and onside kicking? With a Brady / Belichek team, 21 points in 5 minutes is not unheard of.

I think it speaks to a child-like mentality where if "I can't have my way, I'm going to take my ball and go home". Again, I can't see Peyton Manning doing this.

How much did you really have to drink? 21 points in less than 5 minutes... give me a break. To call them clowns for that is an absolute joke. Go catch some ZZZ dude, you'll see how ridiculous that sounds tomorrow. Of course anything is possible... but the risk by far outweighs the reward.

DUDE, if they're as good as their heads think they are...that should be no big deal.

granted, i think they're overrated and obviously got spanked tonight...that's no way to go out. they rolled over. GLAD TO SEE IT...but, they rolled over.:pokechop::pokechop::pokechop::pokechop::pokechop::pokechop:

Yes, but what you're missing is that it's more than the actual points that matter. It's the "don't give up" attitude that coaches try to instill in their teams. It's a mentality.

Sorry, I still say that Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, or any other top QB/Coach combination in this league would have never done that.

Look at the Falcons game. We were up to them by double digits with like 2 minutes left in the game. A FG, converted on-side kick and they were within a hail mary heave and 2 pt conversion of tying the game. The Patriots offense had way more time than that and is FAR more potent than the Falcons. 21 points for those dudes in 5 minutes is nothing. We could have fumbled the ball like we did againts ATL, onside kick, etc ad the next thing you know they're back in it.

I could understand it if it was 28+ points, but three scores isn't that much. The Colts got three TD's in less than 2 minutes against the Texans on Sunday. Maybe they should have pulled Manning?

ETA: This is also the same club that left their starters in to pad their stats when they were up by 40+ against the Titans. You can't tell me that it's all about avoiding injuries when you pull crap like that.

Let's also not forget, that game (Titans) was played in the snow, which would have increased the chance for injury to a star vs. playing in a dome.

We could've beaten the Saints, but I couldn't find the Saints' practice film

Sincerly,

Who was Moss yelling at during the 4th quarter? I couldn't tell who it was but ESPN showed it for a couple seconds... damn Randy, showing your true colors again

The ironic thing is, the only infighting you'll see on the Saints sideline this year, is the classic "You da man!" argument.

Have have seen Peyton down by 3 TDs against the Bucs, when the Bucs had one of the best defenses in the NFL. With 5 minutes left, he evened it up and won it in OT.

The difference though, Tampa's offense was not a huge factor. No so much with the Siants. Our offense was not going to just shut down. Their Offense couldn't touch our Defense.

Watching Brady and Moss halfway through the 3rd quarter a statement about this week's Colts game hit me. Someone mentioned, as the Colts were down by a few scores, that they doubted a single Colt's player had the thought in his head that they might lose the game.

That was not the case with the Pats. They knew they were outclassed. They knew there was no coming back. We had them and they knew it. Benching them was the smart move.

It looked like Moss was fighting with a assistant, I saw it too. The only time it showed Saints side was when everyone was colling off Sharper haha. But to call them clowns? Overkill.

Any team that leaves their starters in when winning by 40+ points in a snowstorm so they can pad their stats (Titans game), but takes them out with almost 6 minutes to go, down by 21 to "avoid risking injury" while playing indoors is just that - clowns.

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

...which anyone who can think reasonably and objectively will have to disagree. The way our defense was playing, the time left on the clock, and with the amount we were up by... that was absolutely smart and logical decision. Now while on the other situations that were brought up, the Pats were classless... but this by no means, is equivalent to anything of that nature. I was thinking it was the beer talking yesterday... I guess not.

I hope we aren't put in position to break some NFL records by leaving Brees in with it pretty much being over. I mean we don't want to be mistaken for being classless clowns too.

So you are saying that clowns aren't capable of reasonable and objective thought?

But what I dont understand is how are they the clowns instead of bill belichick being classless? i dont think they decide when they play or not play. if i was playing in the nfl,i would never want to leave.

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

I actually thought Bill Belichick was a pretty good sport at the end of the game. It appeared that he congratulated Coach Payton and Drew Brees. The question of pulling players in the 4th, yeah not sure what he was thinking. I did notice the camera shots of Brady he looked like Nicholson after the shock treatment in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I also think it's been a long time since Coach Belichick has been in a situation like Monday night. Personally not a big fan of his but I do respect him as a Coach and love the way he loathes the press.

Re: The Patriots are officially clowns

Here's some irony for you - Belichek pulled his starters in our game with 6 minutes to go...not because they were losing so badly but "to prevent anyone from getting injured".

Why then, pray tell, are they all playing in a meaningless game against the Texans in which Wes Welkers blows out a knee and is lost for the playoffs?

Methinks Bill speaketh out of both sides of his mouth...
