Will Smith!!
Just realized something on NFL.com, was just looking through defensive stats, i knew Will Smith was on a role but man 10 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and a pick!!
Hes only 2.5 sacks behind the so called almighty "Jared Allen" who people are saying should win Defensive player of the year ( no way whilst sharpers in new orleans) Charles Grant needs to takes some notes out of will smiths book, Grants kindov disappeared by this point. |

Manimal!!!

Re: Will Smith!!
He's certainly motivated. He and Charles Grant came into training camp worrying about their suspension and after several pretty bad seasons they had something to prove. Remember Grant chasing on that long breakaway? Will Smith is still bringing it and looks in great shape and Grant does look to have disappeared somewhat.

The only reason Jared Allen has the number of sacks he has is because he played twice against Green Bay. I think it was 7 1/2 sacks on Aaron Rogers. The more I see the Vikings and their softass schedule, the less I worry about the Saints possibly going into Minnesota for a playoff game. |
Re: Will Smith!!
Thats why I'm not worried about the Vikings defense. Sean will just roll Shockey to Allen's side and use him to block Allen all day long if that is what is needed to win. If I can figure it out then I'm sure Sean can

Re: Will Smith!!
Smith is finally producing. I watched the game again last night on my DVR and Grant was close a few times as well. They both played like manimals.

Re: Will Smith!!
They might not be worth the price tag but when motivated look what these 2 guys can do when given the chance to attack the quarterback and not play outside contain

Allen: Packers (2 games): 7.5 sacks Bears: 2 sacks Lions (2 games): 1 sack Niners: 1 sack Ravens: 1 sack 12.5 Total Sacks Smith: Buffalo: 1 sack New York Jets: 1.5 sacks Atlanta: 2 sacks Carolina: 2 sacks St. Louis: 1 sack Tampa Bay: 1 sack New England: 1.5 sacks 10 Total Sacks Jared Allen has gotten fat off of two games on an offensive line more porous than Spongebob Squarepants. He has disappeared in 5 games where he didn't record a sack. I'm not taking anything away from the guy, because I do think he is a top notch DE and demands a double team most of the time, but he is hit or miss. In comparison, Will Smith has had only four games were he didn't record a sack. He has blossomed the last 5 games by getting to the QB at least once and totaling 7.5 in the process. Allen has gotten the majority of his sacks in spurts and has only recorded more than one sack in three games. Smith has been more consistent with his, and has recorded 1.5-2 sacks four times. Take away the two Green Bay games, and Allen's line looks mediocre. |
Re: Will Smith!!
The Vikings are soft.
The only heavy hitters they've faced, the Steelers and the Ravens, both punched them in the mouth and if it weren't for the now-cut Ravens kicker missing 2 FGs , they would've lost against the Ravens. Even the Whiners, who have a fairly heavy hitting defense, got them on the ropes. If you are looking for a team that may get surprised in the playoffs, it's the Vikings. |
