You think the thread is stupid... well speak for yourself! I though it made good discussion but I realize that you and a few others would like to stir the pot and turn it into smack.

Well being that I've been to a few Saints games... I know that the vast majority of their fans are not like you and that's a good thing!!!
You are one of the few bad seeds.

Troll.

Bandwagon.

No need to get angry... just realize you are wrong.
If I were a bandwagoner... the Saints would now be my team instead of the Chargers.
If I were a troll, I'd be shouting Rivers over Brees.

I'm not doing any of those things... there for, you ARE wrong!!!
Anyway... enough about you and the other who wanted to stir the pot. If you think this thread is stupid, then why are you posting in it? Want to see a troll... check the mirror.

End of discussion!!!

Now back to football!!!

Bolts isn't a troll nor is he jumping on the bandwagon. He's been here for quite sometime following our team... Brees in particular.

We have our franchise quarterback and they have theirs. What's there to look back on? If it was the right move for everyone? Does that really need an answer?

Rivers is a girl, wait and see when the playoffs get here.

Thanks papz.

We'll never know what the original plan was and I agree that there isn't much to look back on. It just makes an interesting discussion.

...are you kidding me we know the original play and that was to draft a QB to take over for Brees who they felt wasn't the answer. They were buying time starting Brees because he was still winning and they were giving time to Rivers until he was ready. Injury was just the excuse they needed.

The original play... LMAO!!!

Though you are right abut one thing... when you have the #1 draft pick and QBs like Rivers, Rothlisberger, and Manning are availble, it's had to turn down.
But there is also a reason why the Chargers gave Brees a 1 year extension to his contract after the break out 2004 season!!!

I mean obviously the Chargers didn't feel Brees was their future franchise quarterback hence the drafting of Rivers. They wanted a veteran quarterback until they felt Rivers was ready to take over. It worked out great for both sides. One thing I'd like to say... Drew Brees might not have became the Drew Brees he is now if he stayed in San Diego. Our offense was catered to allow him to be the player he is now... I don't think that would have happened over there.

Well I am doing the math here:

Brees
Manning
Rivers
Rothlisberger

Technically the Chargers had there hands on Brees and Manning then traded for Rivers yet they could have also had Rothlisberger.

So in order for a Chargers QB to get a ring they need to go to another team. I say the odds favor the Saints and Brees!!!

Well yeah. If they would have put Brees up for trade after the 2003 season, they might have got a sandwich for him. There was no way you could predict that he would have that break out season in 2004.

Had he stayed in San Diego, he'd still be successful. Then you guys might have ended up with Rivers... but you would have had to make a trade.

I don't know if the Saints would have drafted a QB in the early round though. Possibly Kurt Warner in a Saints uni??? Hmmm...

I think that Rivers may just be second to P. Manning in the AFC. Everyone likes to lump Brady in there but at this time I would put Rivers and maybe Carson Palmer above him.

You know what. We will have to judge, in a few years, how Eli, Brees, and Rivers have done with their respective teams.

I personally believe that Rivers will lead the Bolts to the AFC Championship and Super Bowl this season. With their big receivers, LT coming on again, and the defense, I think San Diego will take out Peyton and the Colts again.
