They can rest in the bye week. Not many teams have made it 16-0 go for the records.

You don't ice your team going into the playoffs... you got to get them HOT!

i say we rest our guys only after we've clinched home field throughout the playoffs, obviously. normally i would be up in arms for 16-0 but we've got far too many guys that are nicked up and would benefit from the rest, especially on D.

GAH!!! Simple recent history. Colts go 13-0. Sit their starters. Finish 13-3. Blow it in the first game of the playoffs.

No resting.

+100000000

...also plenty of time to rest or rust after the Superbowl!

Exactly. Resting players only destroys momentum going into the playoffs. You play to win the game! Any game.

Re: rest or rust?

no.....resting players is crucial the the success of the team

as an NFL player, playing football your entire life.....practicing and training every single day of the year there is no way possible they could get rusty after resting for 2 weeks

that is the best possible thing that could happen to them after a long grueling regular season....get everybodies bumps, bruises, scratches, and cuts healed up so they are completely 100% healthy for the playoffs

at the end of a season the players are already ready for the playoffs....they are well aware of what the playoffs mean and they arent going to come out flat like everybody claims they would

as a fan i would love to see my team go undefeated.....but as a coach and as a fan i would much rather see them rest, get healthy for the playoff run....and finally get that super bowl ring

by playing a few backups you are still playing to win....but you are looking at the bigger picture....backups are playing their asses off in the last game of the season to prove they are worthy of a roster spot next season and maybe some extensive playing time in the playoffs

even more recent history.....patriots go 16-0 dont rest their starters.....dont win the super bowl either

teams rest their players all the time and win games in the playoffs......the colts are the ones we remember because they are the big name team with the hall of fame QB that cant seem to win the big game in the playoffs

thats just a cliche....it has nothing to do with reality
