Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
NFL: The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints need to embrace their shot at immortality, writes Gene Wojciechowski - ESPN
To go perfect or not to go perfect, that is the question! The last time the Colt were 13-0, they rested players and lost the Superbowl. I say keep the pedal to the medal and don't look back. |
Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
Players get "cold" when they sit. They need to at least play 3 quarters of each game.

If we can get by the Dallas game, it may be a possiblility.

Keep playing your game, just be smart about it.

I think the Saints are 13-0 because THEY like to win. I'm glad, and I hope they don't even entertain doing something to hurt their chances of running the table. I voted to win EVERY game. Why wish for anything less? |

im not upset about it......just pointing out the obvious bias in the poll i want to win too.....but not at the expense of our players health you dont think the panthers are going to try and hurt our players? their season is over......they arent playing for anything.....they'll want nothing more than to end our streak and maybe end one of our players season |

I don't think a team can win consistently if they play to stay healthy. You can't play your best with things like that muddling up your mind. You have to focus on the game at hand, and play like there's no tomorrow. The guy doing the hitting is seldom injured. In fact, many injuries are freak, caused by something that isn't violent, or even team mates. You just can't have your players and coaches out there worrying about injuries. They have to block it out. At 13-0, we're in the best possible training ground for a playoff run. We're tired. We're nicked. We're under great pressure to win each game. We need to win the next 3 games. That sounds exactly like the playoffs and SB! We need to use this training ground. If we can win out in regular season, we will be confident have the right stuff to win out in post season! |
Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
We already clinched a first round bye. A bye week is always good to rest and restore players. I think letting any team rest their way into a battle like this is a mistake. They need to keep going for it.

Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
A hard question. Every player is just one play away from an INJ.
BUT - wins are great!! |
Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
I've often thought about the perfect match up between the Colts and the Saints. I wonder how it would go down?

Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
I'm in favor of letting players PLAY. If players are hurting, give them rest and healing, all in preparation for a strong, healthy post season. We would have a bye the 1st round, so we would have a built-in two week break from competition. Build big leads in weeks 16 and 17 and let the backups coast to victories if we can. Win game 16 going into the playoffs on a three(3) game mission. Superbowl is the ultimate prize, a 19-and-0 perfect season would be the icing on the cake.

Re: Dream Matchup Comes Closer to Reality.
Protecting Brees would be my main concern. Just about every position on this team we have quality depth but Brees can't be replaced. But then again I know Brees wants to play and he wants to win. If I were in Sean Payton's shoes I don't think I could take that opportunity to go undefeated away from Brees if that is something that's important to him. But if we get a good lead on the Bucs and Panthers then I'm sure Payton will clear the bench. Lord knows it wouldn't hurt Brunell to get a few snaps, he looked down right pathetic on that fake punt.
