Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
HA! I bet you do Joe. 13-0 will do that to a guy.
Joe Horn interviewed for WDSU pregame special, says he wants to retire as a Saint | New Orleans Television - - NOLA.com |
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
well this is where he really made a name for himself, here in NEW ORLEANS. im totally fine with it

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
We forgave Herbert & Anderson...guess we could do the same for horn. He did a lot for the city while he was here.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Sounds like the guy wants to play again. Well, as great as he was, no room on the roster for him these days. If he decides to officially hang it up, I am sure the Saints will sign him to one of those ceremonial contracts and let him retire. I guess if one of the receivers on the roster gets a season ending injury, then maybe take a look, although at this point the Saints would be better off promoting Arrington from the practice squad...

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Sorry Joe, no room for you. Appreciate what you did here, but those days are long gone. If any aging star deserves a "pity roster spot", it's my boy Dulymus.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
i like joe horn.....but we dont need him.....he is just like the rest of the media......front runners......he is just excited about our run and wants to be a part of it.....he is a free agent for a reason and realizes that his career is all but over.
there is no sentiment left for him here like there is for deuce......joe horn was a great player for us.....but he didnt leave quite the mark that a guy like deuce did |
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
We don't need Joe, but man he played and played well in New Orleans. Obviously he's not getting on the roster, but I very much like the idea of a one day contract so he can retire a member of the New Orleans Saints.

I find it interesting that he's doing this now. Where was he at the beginning of the season when that might have been seen in a different light than trying to leech off the current team's success?
Maybe in the spring, Joe, when it isn't all about you. |

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Let Joe retire a Saint, He was a very good Saint. He really did make a name for himself here.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
NFL films played the Atlanta game the first game back in the Dome. It brought back good memories of Joe for me so I would say yes. I also thought he tried
to join the team earlier this season, but I may be wrong. |
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
That hit is what hurt him ...no?

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
I hear everyone saying that he was a good Saint, and the 1 day contract being a good idea. I've alway liked him and have no problem with this....but something tells me he meant that he wants to actually PLAY (and win a SB). Its no secret that we have been basically "signing people off the street" to offset injuries (not that we have a spot for him anyway). Maybe he wants to follow in McKenzies footsteps and play for a contender.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
sign that Horn on the roster ..........
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Now that you all mention it ... Joe was a real good player for us. But I am not convinced he actually makes the team even if he were the same Joe Horn he once was. In other words, our talent at WR now is much greater than when he was a star for us. Still it would nice to ceremonially retire him as a Saint. He is definitely one of us.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
maybe id rather see deuce retire as a saint. but... horn was pretty good and i guess that one day contract would work for him..

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
I like Joe. He was a GREAT WR for us back in the day. I think people forget just how good he was. He managed to make Aaron Brooks look like a good QB for several years.
Unfortunately, I don't see this happening, unless it is some kinda 1 day contract deal. I seem to remember Morten Andersen wanting to do something like this last year, but I think he actually wanted to kick for one game. It never happened. |

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
I have never liked Joe Horn after what he did to Willie Roaf. I say no way Horn. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
I'd be ok with that. I hate that he went to the falcons, but I also remember he and a team mate driving to Houston from San Antonio to visit Katrina evacuees.
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
When there was very little to be proud of Joe Horn used to make some big plays that helped give us the few wins we had. He was a trash talker but he was also a producer. Let him have a 1 day contract.

Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Joe was a decent WR the best we had at the time...but now he is trying to jump on the bandwagon...I say NO..if he wanted a 1 day contract to retire then fine but you know thats not what he wants...and besides that Joe likes to blow his own horn a bit too much and that wouldnt fit in our current locker room

Yes, Rickey did it... players in recent years who come to mind who have done it include Jerry Rice with the Whiners, Brian Mitchell with the Skins, John Lynch with Tampa... |
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
I must've missed it, What happened between Horn and Roaf?
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Who incidentally is one player absolutely deserving of single day team signing... (Roaf)
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
From a talent standpoint, he DID retire as a Saint.
|
Re: Joe Horn Wants to Retire a Saint.
Sean Peyton out rid of Horn, because he was not a team player. He has built a team of unselfesh players. Players who want what's best for the team. You don't see Reggie Bush throwing a fit because he's not carrying the ball 30 times a game. Horn is in the mold of TO and Chad Johnson, that clown in Cincinnati. Some thought the thing with the phone was real cute. But I did not. It was showboating. My old coach wouldn't have put up with it and apparntly neither will SP. Besides Horn said he would never play for the Falcons. And just look were he went. That tells me he is a lair. I got no use for him.
