OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

"Right now, what's heartache for me ... when you walk off that field and you've got guys out there playing their balls to the wall, and you've got folks in the stands screaming and hollering, 'Y'all (expletive) suck,' you know, you don't do that," Grant said.

New Orleans Saints' Charles Grant feels 'heartache' at fans' reaction | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com

Look, I'm as mad/disappointed/ill as any fan could be about yesterday and think that the Saints laid the most rotten of eggs in the Dome.

HOWEVER, if some fans really did this as Grant claims, then they are NOT fans.

Everyone has a right to be frustrated and say that these guys didn't play well or that the postseason outlook is turning grim, but there's no excuse for this type of treatment towards our players.

Do these fools think telling them that they "bleeping suck" is going to make them play better???

Yeah I heard something about this. I pray it isn't true.

Unfortunately, even if it isn't true, Grant thinks it's true....last thing we need is for the guys to think they've lost the fans....

Bull... if they suck a fan has a right to say they suck!

Sorry you are professionals its apart of the game deal with it. Fans pay them to perform and if they don't they deserve to be called out.

My question is "who pays the bills"... the answer... the fans.

Re: OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

Well that isnt right...but what i get out of that story is C.Grant thinks we should be happy with the lack of effort they displayed on the field yesterday..Like saying the Saints never been 14 ans 2....Well Mr Grant you made a few plays yesterday so i guess your worth all that money now..If he and the defense start playing and quit diving at peoples feet and making subpar Qbs look like hall of famers..then you wont have to worry about a few fans getting on your case.

can hearing something like that make grant play any worse? NO.....play any better? maybe, though i doubt it.

Re: OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

Hey Charles, if you showed up more than once a season, maybe you'd have more of a legitimate beef with the fans. However, 43 tackles total and your first sack since the Jets game (yes, that's 11 games ago) doesn't mean you're earning your $4.1Million salary. You had a good game Sunday. Bully. Beat your man. Stop the run. Get a sack. Force a fumble. Win a Super Bowl.

Get a few more athletic moves while you're wallowing in self-pity for allowing one of the worst teams ever to beat your a$$ up.

Re: OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

25 years ago I might have yelled "You Suck!" and beat my chest proclaiming my fanhood.

Those 25 years are behind me now. These days I see that behavior as inappropriate, and certainly not something I would want my daughter to see me doing. Anymore, I just mumble to myself "Man, we suck", and shake it off. I can certainly see where players might find it offensive.

The thing is that sometimes the truth hurts. They did suck yesterday. As a fan I might feel like expressing that. As a player I might think a fan expressing that is mostly clueless. I think both have valid points.

"BLEEP" YOU, Charles Grant. Why not try a little something I like to call, EFFORT!

So, we blow a 17 point lead, in the Dome, against the 2-12 Bucs, with HFA on the line and CHarles Grant's greatest heartache is that some fans booed them?

Geez Charles.

I agree 100%. I think the team and the organization know by now just how the fans feel. Hey there is no excuse for what happened. And if I want to voice my opinon then I think I have every right too. I work hard for my money. Sorry if a few millionairs like C. Grant and co. don't like it.

OK, maybe I took the wording in this story too literally.

It says :

Defensive end Charles Grant expressed his disappointment with fans who showered the New Orleans Saints with boos and expletives as they left the field Sunday.

I can appreciate everyone's opinion of Grant's play this year (or past couple of years), but to me that story is not about Charles Grant other than his reaction.

He is saying that the fans were yelling that the New Orleans Saints bleeping suck, not Charles Grant.

I draw the line on that. Many players gave it their all yesterday. Obviously many others did not, but have in almost every game this season.

As bad as our team played yesterday and even if they finish 13-4, they don't bleeping suck.

I would not have screamed that at the 1980, 1996, 1999 or 2005 Saints as a whole and I sure wouldn't say that about the 2009 squad no matter where and when this season ends. PERIOD.

Exactly. They're still the winningest team in Saints history. And that counts for something.

Well when I was a kid I booed refs, and I might boo a guy like TO for some of his 'me-first' antics, I might even boo a team for a high level of suckage, but I'm not hanging over the rail screaming that kind of stuff - that makes it personal. I think it's a bit over the top.

Zooey is proud of you, and will probably go out with you now. Yes, growing up is a good thing. Same here.
Now I make it a point to hold my wife's hand lovingly, and be a good husband while we walk the Walk of Sad down the slippery Terrace steps & ramps. She knows I need ice cream. Its gonna get better.

Maybe 25 years from now I'll not keep thinking fire that idiot kicker.
ok.

As fans, we have to lose our obsession with how much more money that guy makes than you. Maybe if you got your fat butt off the couch and exercised a little, you could make a bigger check too. Its not Charles Grant's fault you cant play ball. He didnt put a gun to your head and make you choose a career at Walmart. You'd cry like a toddler, if you had to do a day of training camp, even for a million dollars, and you'd lay there and cry from one of the hits these guys takes, so dont be a hater.

Dont be a jerk in the stands. These guys can sometimes choose where they play, or how much they play for. The more you act like an *******, the more they think, "this is a business, **** them."

So man up & represent yourself well.

I agree with all of this but I must add that Grant has been in the league long enough to expect to this kind of fan after a huge loss. He still has a little growing up to do as well.

I know, I'm poor enough to work much cheaper too--haa!

I think they should have football fantasy camp, like they do in baseball. let us suit up & go thru all the drills, etc. You'd have a lot fewer fat losers yelling crap from the stands. It would be more like, "oooh, I dont think I could have tacked that guy, either. We'll get em next time."

Yeah yelling that stuff is not cool..but im sure they were drunk and feel bad today...lol..and Grant can get in his Million dollar ride and turn up the tunes and laugh....The only positive is maybe he feels some guilt from all the money he stole..I still say as big as he's gotten we should experiment putting him at DT and Hargrove on the edge...We got to do something ..our run D is terrible..

Hey Strato. If we make the NFC championship, you need to come to N.O, dude. Start saving your money now, just in case.

Re: OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

Here is where I am coming from. I am not one to boo my team, but I can see where fans who do that are coming from. Also, the article is misleading.....It states that the Saints were "showered" with boos. From what I have heard from guys in the dome, they didn't hear boos, and trust me it was quiet enough to hear a pin drop.

One more thing...............Don't lash out on the guys in the stands whose money helps pay your check.

Hey, Mighty 12, did you stick around the Dome? They turned out the lights faster than I've ever seen. It was empty, and quiet.

Re: OK, now here's where this fan draws the line...

Any Saints player offended should have been playing back in the day. Believe me, back in the day when beer was much cheaper, and the funnels stayed pouring all game long, it would have been a disaster after a loss like this. It would have probably been bad enough for players to run off the field immediately after the game, instead of hanging around shaking hands.

SkyMike,

Also, the players left the field in a hurry and with an escort. They knew what was coming. Grant should not be surprised.
