Reggie finally get it?

Didn't see any other thread on this so i apologize if there is. I couldn't help but notice an improvement in Reggie's game. On the few runs he has had of late he is hitting holes that he previously overlooked or missed. He is cutting back instead of choosing to bounce it outside, the 13 yd run against Tampa is an example. I am starting to like what I see from him. Might be time to give him a couple more carries a game.

I agree. Noticed the same thing. When he hits a hole he usually breaks it for a big gain. The longest rush of his career came after hitting the hole. I think it was against Carolina.

Re: Reggie finally get it?

yer gotta agree, two examples, last year week 7 vs panthers, reggie ran off right tackle and cut inside of shockey - 45 yard gain.
This year vs rams ran through right guard, 65 yard gain!!
i am liking what im seeing from reggie recently, it looks like the limited role has made him play with more fire. I still think payton should have given him more plays last week

I think he sees MB and PT's roles being more important than his. I think he realizes he is expendable and not as important as HE thinks he is. maybe watching those guys actually hit a hole has lit a fire

Re: Reggie finally get it?

I honestly have no idea why he doesn't get more touches. Every time he touches the ball its gold it seems. It almost feels like he really is being phased out of the offense.

I agree with that assessment, because Bell and Hamilton weren't exactly getting the job done after PT was injured. Maybe it was play-calling. Maybe it was Tampa's run-D stepping up. Maybe it was lackadaisical play by the O-line. Whatever it was, Bell and Hamilton played a little flat. I think Reggie should have gotten more touches than Hamilton for sure. Reggie looked impressive in his limited touches. I think he should have gotten quite a few more looks in the game than he was given.

Totally agree. They key to Reggie's success is consistency (or the lack of) - injuries have held him back as well, but it does look like he may be taking what the D gives him

Yep, Reggie is an athlete no doubt. More direct Reggie! Forget the left or right end.

Every time Reggie gets the ball I'm yelling at him just run don't dance around. I think maybe he heard me.;)

Do you think he might be trying to improve his value if he is farmed out next year?

As well as everyone else. At the same time, I want him to have the same fire he had his 1st two seasons. Reggie Bush is indeed a matchup-killer (go back to that Rams game: 6 carries, 83 yards)

Re: Reggie finally get it?

Guys, I get what you are all saying about Reggie Bush. Yes, he is good enough to warrant maybe 15 carries a game. The only problem is the minute that happens he gets injured. The way he is playing 15 carries would be ideal, unfortunately dude just doesn't hold up well to that type of workload. It's really a shame because he does cause major issues for opposing defenses.

Re: Reggie finally get it?

This is the best time for him to get it right. Lets get our defense on track and we're good

He will be key in the playoffs

Re: Reggie finally get it?

that well may be the senario that payton wants to dial up in the playoffs. but like matthew t says his workload may be his dimise 15 carries probably his max. anything more leads to injury and what I noticed and feared the most is FUMBLES. when he tried to be the man in the backfield, that 20 or more touchs led to failure to hold the ball , i don't know if his body just gets tired or mentally fatiqued , but he definitly not all day like they say in minnosota

Re: Reggie finally get it?

Yeah, he popped his hamstring, just running by himself the other day. The injuries have killed him, since he came into the league. If he could stay completely healthy just one full season, I would like to see what he can accomplish. I guess that's easier said than done in his position.

You know, I think opponents are beginning to forget he's there. This will be a good thing.

Overall, I think Reggie may have lost a step, due to his injuries. Im not seeing him outrunning the world like before, but he has adjusted by switching to a slashing Tony Dorsett type running style. I dont know if he's gonna continue to be a walking highlight reel, but he looks to be more consistent and steady. Personally, I miss the dancing, juking highlight reel runs.

wazzup, Lynwood?

What? He juked a tampa player out of his shoes. At least i think it was Tampa. It is all pretty hazy, really.

He was really running aggressively tonight. Was good to see.

Still don't know if he will be back next year.

Perhaps "getting it" really means your surgically repaired knee finally gets enough rest to heal.

I never doubted him, as you can look up in my posting, and I never thought he was slacking, nor did I think he was making poor decisions.
I just think this is what he is used to being able to do. Rip up your knee
like a piece of fried chicken some time, and see if you feel like running.

And I wear a #25 jersey.
