Well to be fair the Panthers are on the backup QB as well.

Ahh, but he was a backup turned starter, not a PS rookie with no NFL experience. Not to mention he (Moore) is better than Delhomme.

Interesting perspective.

Brees undoubtedly is upset by the decision to put him at No. 3, behind Mark Brunell and Chase Daniel, against the Panthers. As a reader points out, Brees wears No. 9 in honor of Ted Williams, who opted to play on the final day of the 1941 baseball campaign, putting his .400 batting average at risk. (Williams finished with a mark of .406.)

I can see the logic behind it, but I just hate to give up the chance to get some momentum back for the starters. Just seems like a bad way to start what we all hope is a deep playoff run...

The truth is, we will only know whether this was a good decision in hindsight. If the Saints lose the first playoff game, it was the wrong choice, if the Saints go all the way, the move was the right call.

Lets geaux Brunell!!!!!!!! I would laugh my ass off if he puts up 400 yards passing with 4 TD's. It would be awesome,

The problem with that is you have to cut 8 players to activate the 8 players on the PS.

Thats why there's so much cut/sign roster shuffling going on outside of the PS now.

And if you activate a PS player, he counts against your 53 man roster (and you have to pay him) for 3 weeks.

If teams can avoid activating a PS player and simply cut/sign guys on the street, it gives them much more roster flexibility heading into the playoffs.

I think by not playing the starters a loss won't be as hard to take, almost like it didn't count. Even playing close can possibly be a moral boost. I just hope that during the off week they at least do a walk through or something to keep the rust off.
