Can Brunell Win

What do you guys think. Can Mark Brunell win the game for the Saints or help win the game. It will be good to see what he has left.

Re: Can Brunell Win

I think the most honest answer is: we don't know. Guess we'll find out in 14 hours.

With a strong ground game and help from the defense yes. To me this is a show me game for the front four.

there allways a chance the kittens will have a bad game. it is a wait and see. he will have a lot of rust to throw off, if we have a little running game it might work.

Re: Can Brunell Win

I think the biggest factor, is Steve Smith not playing. At least the last time I heard he wasn't. There's always a chance. Brunell might not be a spring chicken, but he's an old rooster, and he's still there for a reason.

Re: Can Brunell Win

He's got everyone but PT working for him and he's had 2 years in the system. If he can't generate offense with those weapons, we should be looking for a new backup ASAP.

Re: Can Brunell Win

I agree, this will be a good test to see if Brunell can really be counted on. As long as he manages the game well then all is good.

A good test for sure. Alas, I don;t think he can.

Re: Can Brunell Win

He is what he is, a pretty smart reliable veteran. Not there for week to week action but can keep the team moving in Drew's absence. Probably is best slated as a QB Coach very soon.

I'm going to go ahead and say "no".

Re: Can Brunell Win

NO.

But it's not his fault, this crappy team has sucked for weeks now.

QBREES9 01-03-2010 01:56 PM

Re: Can Brunell Win

This has been bad, Yeah its not all his fault. i'd still like to see Chase get in

Re: Can Brunell Win

Too bad for Brunell. But we need a different QB.

Re: Can Brunell Win

Until today I was confident that Brunell could manage a game well if he had to play (God forbid). I don't feel the same now. The team as a whole didn't look like they were into the game, but he had some terrible throws.

Re: Can Brunell Win

Why not try Chase for 1 drive in such a worthless game? I don't get it?

Re: Can Brunell Win

Well, I think the Saints need to consider a new direction regarding backup QB for next year. Not all on Brunell, I know he hasn't had a lot of time to work with the team, and the play calling was very vanilla. Still, dude really looked like a washed up aging player today. No accuracy even on the easy passes. Honestly, I was a bit spooked watching him in preseason, guess it's good the Saints didn't really need him so far this year.

RailBoss 01-03-2010 09:01 PM

Re: Can Brunell Win

Brunell was really done when he left Washington, there shouldn't be any surprises today. The only competitive veteran out there is Jeff Garcia who can
still move a team. We are lucky that Brees has stayed healthy, because now you see what will happen if Drew gets hurt. However we are not alone if Manning, Brady, Favre, Rivers or Warner go down it will basically be the same fate for those teams. But today we saw Wes Welker go down for The Pats which will greatly influence that team. Even though it was tough to watch today Coach Payton made a good call to keep Drew sidelined.

I'd be shocked if MB didn't retire at the end of the year.

I would be pleasantly surprised if MB achieves another 20 completions in the NFL.

Hopefully that was the last time we see Brunell in Black and Gold. Time to move in a youthful direction and develop a future player.

Amen! Stony Point, Mark will make an excellent QB Coach you have to assume this is his last season as a player!

Re: Can Brunell Win

Sean should of let Chase play the 2nd half just to see how he looks so the team can tell if he's the answer or if they need another project

That's what I was saying at the time.
