First memory of being a saints fan

what is your first memory of being a saints fan?

my grandfather always had two tickets even when they were at tulane stadium. i remember him giving 1/2 the season tickets to my dad to take me to games. i can remember going to games at about 5 years old. my dad would always let me buy a penant for the opposing teams so i could remember what teams i got to watch. one time when i was about 7 a lady came to my seat and gave me a jacket and said they pulled my seat # in a raffle. the jacket is an XL and still doesnt fit me but its still a pretty cool item.

anyone have any cool stories?

Everyone around us rooting for Joe Montana (I was 8 or 9) one night....and remembering how much I hated everyone rooting for them just because they were winning..and fell in love with underdogs as a whole, then we stank it up one year and its grown into a SERIOUS obsession ......For some stupid reason, the heartbreak over the years has made me even stronger and more of a diehard???????

I guess it would be whenever I found out that they were gonna give NO a franchise...but I don't really remember where I was or anything like that. I remember how cool it was gonna be to have Jim Taylor...but I wasn't too crazy about Cuozzo.

I really liked their hamburgers with that special sauce they put on them...ahhh, those were the good ol' days! Little Pig Bar-B-Q, Hover's Drug Store where I read my "Archie" comic books, the Curb-Mart where I got my half & half (cherry/cola) icee and the million dollar bar for a quarter, and then there was Burger King, (some called it the BK Lounge) where I had my office in high school. I know they still have Burger Kings...just not near the corner of Pass Rd. and Washington Ave. in Gulfport.

my memories of players is the same for most my age. i remember watching games when i was younger, but it wasnt until i was 8 or 9 that i remember details. I remember watching bobby and the mauling defense. i remember watching our lefty kicker made FG after FG after FG. i remember fred mcafee being a beast of a special teamer.

apparently when i was younger my dad took me to a few saints games, my first game was watching bradshaw play vs us, back in 82 or 83, but i dont recall it at all.

one other strange thing i remember, is during the broadcast of the saints playoff game vs the vikings, i remember someone down on the sidelines with a meter that gave a noise reading. i remember seeing the little red line being maxed out on that meter and thinking that was pretty cool. i used to have that game on vhs, i wish i still had it.

My story is just as familiar except the QB everyone around me was cheering for was Terry Bradshaw. Didn't care that he was from Louisiana, he wasn't playing for the Saints. Boy was I pissed for a 10 yr old.

I had just moved to Louisiana and was walking across campus....I know it sounds vague but that is my first memory of being a Saints fan.

Similar to my story. 49er coats, Cowboy caps, whatever team won the last Superbowl. I loathe the bandwagon fans.

Conversely, I love the underdog. Rocky was my favorite movie as a child.

To my point, I suppose that my first memory as a Saints fan was a Blooper VHS video showing how bad the Saints organization had been. I remember a guy running across the field with a St. benard before a game and the dog cut in front of the guy causing them both to crash before reaching the sideline. That's when I decided to make the Saints my team and I love the decision I made as a child.

I don't know if this counts as a "memory" but my mom said when I was about 2 or 3, I would sit on my dad's lap and watch Saints games with him. And whenever they would score a TD, I would clap my hands and yell "who dat" Been a fan ever since!

:D

i remember a saints ticket was 8 dollars sit where you want. nobody went to the games so you could sit any where. i went bagless just to let you know. then i can recall where i was when tom demsey nailed the 63 yarder. we, me and my brothers ran out the house the minute it happened yelling at the top of our lungs, but what was crazy the whole neighbor hood was out side at the same time yelling , memories o memories

My family had season tickets when I was a little girl, and we'd sit on those wonderfully comfortable bleachers in the Tulane Stadium endzone, cheering for Kilmer and yelling back at the fans who were chanting "We want Hargett!". Good times...

For me, it was probably when Richard Todd came over from the Jets to play QB (putting Dave Wilson on the bench) or the game against New England in Foxboro with all the snow on the field and only the yard lines were plowed, around '82 or '83. Which ever of those came first.

Back in 99 when Rickey Eilliams was still huge and had his dreads. Remember him just crushing a LB on a play knocking him in his back and I think he stepped on him too. Since then I have had a man crush on RW and a big love for the Saints.
