Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
Its being reported that Vikes DC Leslie Frazier is saying that they will blitz more than they normally do. Maybe its a smokescreen. I wish they would, Reggie Bush screen time. A team that blitzes when not used to blitzing should get torched by the screen.

Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
The Vikings know better than to blitz and leave their horrendous secondary one on one with our elite WR's. They will try (and I emphasize the word try) to send 4 at our OL and get to Bree's. When they start getting desperate because that didn't work the way it did against the Cowgirls, then they may start sending a DB, which of course Brees will pick up and hit the receiver that DB was supposed to be covering or throw a screen to Bush in that general direction.
#9 is locked in boys and girls. Nothing is going to work against him with a healthy team behind him. |
Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
This is the key to the game to me..Protect Drew and we will win...that secondary is really bad..Our recievers should have no trouble getting open.

Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
The Vikes are not going to start out blitzing. With their front four, they will try for at least several series to apply pressure with AWWE.
If they can't rattle Brees with that, then they may have to resort to sending an occasional CB or S. And Brees would eat that for lunch. The key to this game is our OL against their DL. Should be good. I still think we are up to the challange. |
Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
The Vikings don't need to Blitz ... they get sacks every game without blitzing. One of these teams is going to get their first superbowl win. I have a feeling it's the Vikings.

The other key is how hurt is Edwards? It's been reported that he has a mild MCL sprain.

Bootlegs draws & screens - BUT not to Reggie. They will be sitting on that & waiting to knock his d-ck in the dirt (remember that hit he tookl in the 06 playoff ahgainst Philly!!)

Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
All we have to do is give Bushrod a can of Skoal and a copy of Field and Stream and Jared Allen will be no problem for Drew..lol

Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
I tend to think the Vikings will not blitz much. They do have a front four capable of applying pressure without it, even with Edwards a bit gimpy. Their lbers will likely isolate on the intermediate zones and attack the flats. I fully believe their keys will be trying to prevent the deep pass and trust they are stout enough to keep our run game in check. I think we need to push the run hard early and open up our passing game. Until they respect our run we will find fewer openings down field.
I trust in our protection packages and Drew's ability to unload at the right time when passing. Offensively I think we will be fine. I am more worried about us defensively. |

Don't believe a word the Vikings players say. I wonder what voodoo Greg Williams will be dialing up?

Re: Vikes to blitz or not to blitz?
If you watched the Dallas/Minn game then you know that it wasn't the blitz that got Romo it was the Vik's Dline that collasped the pocket in on Romo and made him tuck the ball and move. Brees has a much quicker release than Romo, plus Sean will have a list of plays ready for any scheme the Vik's defense dials up.
I'm not worried about the Saints offense. The Saints defense must contain the run (AP) and make Favre throw on 3rd and long situations, and he's gonna make some, but some he won't, hopefully resulting in INT's. Once Favre gets on an INT roll he'll keep throwing into double coverage hoping for a homerun. Yes Favre is good, but he's also been damn lucky this season with his despiration throws. This sunday his luck runs out and Darren Sharper becomes his #1 receiver. |
