Brees?

I asked my brother about it tonight, but he just wanted to enjoy the victory so he refused to talk about it. But I've been wondering about Drew these last two games. He really looks like he's pushing the ball a lot instead of driving through the throw. Hasn't been as accurate. You don't think that he's nursing an injury that he's not letting on about? If so, thank goodness we have two weeks for him to get better.

Re: Brees?

Yeah they were about his last few pass not being as accurate and as tight as they had been.

Re: Brees?

He has definatly lost some accuracy.

Re: Brees?

Two factors:
1. Loss of Shockey
2. v Cardinals, 3rd Quarter. 1-10-50 (10:00) PENALTY on ARZ-C.Campbell, Roughing the Passer, 15 yards. Felt Brees lost his touch from that point on.

Re: Brees?

i think it may have been some nervousness aswell tho, cuz when the blitz was coming brees still avoided it like he always does by pumping his feet, his accuracy just went a little off, i put it down to the magnitude of the game. He will be fine!!

Re: Brees?

Big game...nerves...all the stupid media hype over Favre...not wanting to dissapoint the team and the fans...lots of stuff. He'll be ok.....he's a winner!

Re: Brees?

wtf is this thread even about.....excuse my rudeness but our WRs dropped several balls last night

drew went 17 for 31 but i count 5 drops just off the top of my head

5 drops would mean 5 more catches and we would be talkin about drew's ridiculously high completion percentage again

btw thats 71% completion percentage

drew had a great game but the WRs played very poorly...the one bright spot was david thomas who filled in all over the field and despite not being the best blocker or receiver, he goes hard every play through the whistle

oh and P.S.

drew threw 3 TD passes

He looked fine to me. Especially compared to Favre. :-D

Wondering the same thing, especially after last night. I think it is possible, I am not sure bout the Cards, but last night I think he might have got a little hurt. I am hoping we will all be heatly in two weeks.

We are going to win the SB!!!

Re: Brees?

Well, we have seen Drew's accuracy drop in a game and then the next he was back to form. I think that is just the way it is in sports -- sometimes you are just a little off. (and keep in mind that what we are used to is unreal, the bar is very high).

I would love to hear what your brother has to say about this.

Have any of you ever played football?

I think that Drew Brees is doing quite well, even as the skillset improves as each competitor comes along. What you may be failing to consider is the OPPOSITION gets stiffer, the logistics get far more difficult.

The dude got you to the Super Bowl. Try not to whine.

we are in the super bowl but you are still a little heated....understandable considering the complete lack of respect we are still getting

but we are all saints fans here.....there is a reason we all come here on a daily basis to talk about our favorite team

sit back relax....drink a little more jesus juice and look forward to the super bowl

I will say this ..he over threw a few and our recievers dropped a few...i know without a doubt Drew was nervous...He had the wait of who dat nation on his shoulders...So much at stake...

Re: Brees?

I agree Strato. Drew knew that he had to do the right thing to get the win. He didn't want to be the reason the Saints didn't go to the Super Bowl. This win was more intense and stressful than the Super Bowl. Now he can let it fly because his team is GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

Im glad someone else seems to know about football and our players mentality..if you watch our players they will tell you with their eyes and body language...Drew is a very high strung guy..and it showed at times yesterday...now the pressure is off.. your so right about that he can relax and play like we know he can..

Re: Brees?

I didn't see a lot of outright drops, except for Reggie's on that throw to the left flat. Colston *lost* a couple of balls because the defender knocked it out of his hands, but that's not the same as a "drop." Our guys were covered tight all night. Devery and Meach bobbled balls but ended up catching them. Drew definitely overthrew an open Meach in the middle on one play and Thomas on another (the play that garnered the PI call), but on the play to Thomas he was scrambling for his life and just trying to make something happen. Drew did not have his best game, but he did throw 3 TDs and no INTs, whereas Favre's INTs helped bury his team. Hopefully, he will be rested and sharp as a razor for the SB. We're going to need Drew's absolute best game to beat the Colts.

The Vikings defense is formidable. The recievers were covered and and they got good pressure. Give the Vikings credit.
They are numerous threads about how ****** off people are about the media not giving us credit for winning. Let's not become what we hate.

He also overthrew Shockey, but that might have been because Shockey wasn't as fast as he normally is. Drew also BADLY underthrew Colston on one play and it was a sure INT, but a Vikes defender (an LB, I think) tried for the pick and wound up preventing the throw from hitting the DB in the stomach.

There is something not quite right.

Re: Brees?

I think it was Aikman who said during the game that he thought Drew wasn't "throwing the ball with authority." Sure enough, watching him after that, his throws looked a little wobbly (by his standards of course). He was still moving well and making good decisions, but his downfield throws were only average where he is usually outstanding in that dept.

Aikman also speculated that he might have had some kind of hand injury or something. If anyone knows about throwing accuracy, it should be Troy Aikman.

Exactly. Even he thought something was a bit off.

And yes, I've played football before. Has nothing to do with my eyes. I can tell the difference between putting yourself into a throw and pushing the pass, and it just seemed like he was doing that a lot. Even a few times during the Arizona game. And not saying he's awful. Brees is insane. But he just didn't seem to be throwing with a lot of authority. Over threw more passes than I've seen him do before. Could be nerves. Won't dispute that. But I know I wasn't the only one noticing something different.

My brother is a kool aid drinker. Ha ha. He's hard core about the Saints. I think his name on here is savant. We are different types of fans, I guess. I have the habit of when even though we win, I think we should have done something better. Should have scored a TD on that drive. Needed to be more consistent in the running game. He will just tell me to enjoy the game and I'm too critical. But that's usually during the game. Once he cools down by like monday or tuesday, he usually says "Yeah. You have a point. But....." Ha ha ha.

Contol myself? How about you piss off and not tell me what to do douchebag.

You are confusing lack of control with disgust for whiney *******.

You are the ones whining. Try not to whine like a girl when your team wins.

Some of you suck as fans. Howsabout them apples?

listen dude....i actually agreed with you

i think brees had a good game.....you cant argue with 3 TDs

there was an issue with dropped balls....now you can blame that on the QB but when a WR gets hit in the hands, his job is to catch the ball, regardless of how hard the catch is to make......thats why they play in the NFL

now im trying to help you by telling you to chill out because im interested in reading EVERYONE'S input on these forums....but if you continue to act out the mods are probably not going to allow you to post very much longer

enjoy the ride brother.....we are all witnessing history being made by our favorite team

im only 28 but ive been waiting 43 years for this super bowl......i hope i dont have to wait another 43 years before we actually win one
