Drew Brees Statue Petition
 

Idea:

Erect a statue of Drew Brees in Jackson Square! I can see it now a 15 foot statue of Brees reminiscent of Rocky.

A big bronze Fleur-Di-Lis with everybody's name who was on this team inscribed on a plaque. This season was truly a team effort. You can't just point out one person or another person. Sure there were players who stood out, but it took the whole team the whole year to achieve this.

Drew Brees has been exceptional to the Saints and to the City of New Orleans. But he ain't done yet. But this is a good idea: but it must include everyone who was on a play during this wonderful season.

If he stay with the Saints for another 4 years, and retire a Saint there will be a Statue somewhere, probably somewhere around Benson Tower or the site of the New Stadium once that get cranking up again in discussion.

If we win a superbowl under him there will automatically be a Statue of him and most of the time in Rivertown and in the projected Hall of fame section of the new Sports Complex.

There will be plenty of time for that after he retires. It would be idiotic to trade him, I would imagine he would retire here. But then again remember they traded Archie, Rickey and Morten so anything can happen.

Yes it is premature. It is an idea. I got beat up a little for this but I think there was a miss conception. I did not intend for there to be a ground breaking ceremony on the statue tomorrow lol.

These things take a lot of time and discussion. And a lot of thought has to go into it.

Football is business: Correct. And I know that Drew does not get all of the credit. He is from my understanding the indisputable team leader. In both areas Leadership and stats he is at the top of the league. This leadership and play ability has brought us this season. One which we have never seen before. On a business aspect, how much revenue do you think has been generated from #9? How much do you think is still to come. I do not know him personally, but from what i have read he has Personally done at least as much for the city of New Orleans as any other sports figure?

I hope to have dialogue, ideas, and not just a string of "yep"s.

While I understand your idea here bro, knowing the little that I do about Drew, which is VERY little, he seems way to humble for this. He turned red with embarassment, when Connick Jr., said he was the future mayor of New Orleans. Could you imagine what he would do here?

These guys are humble, and they keep their heads about them, and their mouths shut. Do they deserve a statue? Heck yes, but with their personallities, I just don't think any of them would show up for the ceremony! :)

It we are to errect a monument, I think it should be like a Vietnam Wall type of structure; a wall or whatever listing all the players and coaches who had come before trying to win a superbowl for the franchise.

I think the Breesus is funny. Although I don't worship him over God. It's just light humor. I even have a Breesus shirt myself.

Brees himself has seen the shirts. He's mentioned that he's not sure how he feels about them, but says it is a little sacreligious.

You just gotta take stuff like that lightly. It's meant to be kind of a tribute to Drew, and not to be taken seriously.

I have a sense of humor also, and I know that it's all done in fun, and I'm certainly am not taking it serously. I'm just saying, we play in the SUPERBOWL in ten days! Why take chances.
