Colts and Saints players must attend probowl
 

By Michael David Smith - The seven players each on the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints who were chosen to the Pro Bowl won't play in it, as this year it happens a week before the Super Bowl.

But the NFL is still making the players show up.

The league has told all the players who were chosen for the Pro Bowl that they'll have to be there to talk to the media before the game and stand on the sidelines at the start of it. And since the Saints and Colts have practice on Pro Bowl Sunday, that means players on both teams will practice in the morning, fly to Miami in the afternoon, and then fly back home at night.

And then they'll fly back to Miami on Monday.

Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reports that the Colts players are all going to leave the game at halftime of the Pro Bowl, which serves as a nice little reminder of how meaningless the league's annual all-star game is.

Colts president Bill Polian ripped the league for requiring the players to fly down on Sunday, and it's hard to blame him. It's silly for players to spend hours on a plane when they could be spending those same hours preparing for the game in Miami that actually matters.

I've always said... "the probowl is GAY". This just proved it more.

someone mentioned that the p. bowl players are not coming home they are staying in s. florida. its will help a little on the jet lag anyway

Maybe the whole team should just go down on Saturday and setup their HQ/practice there at a Miami Community College for the big week and just stay there. Just thinking out loud.

Who knows why they changed weekends. I'd bet it doesn't last long.

the p. bowl makers don't have a choice uk they have to report. now the other players will join them later is what were yaking about

This is crazy because who decided to make the PRO bowl the week before the Super Bowl?....The NFL. Therefore it is insane to make those players attend. Are they trying to punish the pro bowlers for making it to the Super Bowl?

Viewership was way down the week after the BIGGEST game of the season: the Superbowl. So they pushed it to the week prior while there is still electricity in the air. That heat gets doused because top players aren't playing. Its kind of a wash. I'm glad, or at least I hope that SeanP just lets the guys layover until the rest of the crew arrives on Monday.
