Why are the Colts so much better than the Saints?

Talking heads make me mad.

When did the 09 Colts become the best team in the decade?
Sure, they went 14-0 and rested their players. Did they dominate for that 14-0 stretch? No, I don't think so. They were doubted all year long. Then they beat a #6 and #5 seed in the play-offs. Without key turnovers, the Ravens could have been in that game and the Shonn Green injury killed the Jets.

The Saints started out 13-0. Winning in many ways with many key injuries along the way. We had a bad game in Dallas and let one get away from us in Tampa. Then the Viking choke and we rested. We "Backed-in" to the #1 seed and dominate the Cardinals in every phase of the game. A team that just beat the Packars, considered "the hottest team in the NFC" by many people. Then, even though the Viking's D shut us down a little in the second Half and their O ran up 500 yards on us, we beat them in overtime. Why? We took the ball away from them 5 times.

The Colts play-off path : Flacco, Sanchez.
The Saints play-off path: Warner(FHOF), Favre(FHOF) Both of them might retire after facing the Saints.

Why aren't these team evenly matched?

Re: Why are the Colts so much better than the Saints?

They are evenly matched and if you played the game 10 times, neither team would win more than 6 or less than 4. The media is having a lovefest with Manning and the Colts now because, for the first time, they're the team that's "been there before".

As I've said from the beginning, none of the talk matters. The team that executes better will win on Feb. 7 and nobody yet knows which team that will be.

The Saints will win.

Re: Why are the Colts so much better than the Saints?

We are the best team of the decade because we had more regular season wins in a decade then any other team in NFL history.

We put together more consecutive regular seasons then any team in NFL history.

We will have 2 SB appearances in the decade

We have a 4 time MVP QB

We went 14-2 with a rookie Head Coach, 2 rookie WR and the loss of 2 key defensive players at the beginning of the season.

This season alone we defeated the best ranked defenses in football (Ravens/Jets/Broncos)

Had the Vikings not turned the ball over 5 times your sitting at home for the superbowl.

How many winning seasons this past decade have the Saints have? Now how many have the Colts have?

Overall the Colts are the team of the decade, but that doesn't mean the Saints can't win the Superbowl.

The Patriots are the team of the decade.

Not the Colts.

The Colts need this win to ensure that a team with the best record of the 00s wont be an after thought. If the Saints win. That best record wont mean s***.

Hummmmm, I'm just thinking "Had YOUR team been in the NFC, would be really be having this communication?"

If this was baseball then maybe, but in the NFL where teams play cross conference and such being in the AFC or NFC our talent would have still led us to where we are now. Outside of the Pats, there has not been one other team in the NFL that has been better ran by a GM/Owner and not contiually produced the incredible talent. Wins don't lie.

Re: Why are the Colts so much better than the Saints?

Gee the same thing people were saying last year when we lost our head coach, our No. 1 WR and had issues with retaining our two top assistants and what happen? Opps Peyton and the boys went 16 - 0 in games they played in.

Don't get me wrong. I like and respect the Colts. They are a legitimate team.

However, I'm not above saying that I hope we beat the snot out of them next Sunday. That will be the only way we will prove to the media that we are worthy of this Super Bowl berth. They still don't think we deserve to be here. Let's show them that we do!

Who Dat!

Re: Why are the Colts so much better than the Saints?

I think you deserve to be there. No matter WHAT happens next Sunday.

The AFC South has been the best division in football for a long while. The AFC has been the stronger conference for a decade. The Colts have won more games that anyong, including the Pats. Personally, I am not one of the people that think SB's are ALL that matters... but I respect their opinions too. In THAt regard .. the Pats ARE the TOTD. The Colts have had what... 7 consecutive years with 12 wins? That's phenomenal. No one has EVER done THAT before.

All that is just noise. We're in the HERE and NOW. I think these teams are pretty evenly matched. I agree with the poster about 10 games, and no one winning more than 6 of them.

The Saints Defense was ranked 20th while the Colts Defense was 8th in points allowed. Does that matter? Nope. The Colts D was awful the whole year in 2006 when they won the darn thing. Until the playoffs.

If the talking heads are talking crap about you... relax. They always will. They have about Indy for years. We all HATE Chris Collinsworth. He's been a Colts hater thru it all. All we heard all year was about the undefeated Saints... even though we were too. So what. Bring on the GAME!! 9 more days!!

im all for regular season wins

but there are 2 other teams that have more championships

there are 2 other teams that have better organizations

there are 2 other teams that might have something to say about how much better the colts are than them

in fact.....right now....you guys are most comparable to the rams.....so dominate and such heavy favorites that they lost their 2nd super bowl appearance this decade

right now you guys are nothin more than the AFC champs

you have only been the AFC champs twice this decade which means you have only been 1st place once

how that says you are better than the steelers or pats amazes me

take all the regular season wins you want....i'll take a lombardi any day of the week over a single regular season win

How do you define THAT?

I agree with a lot of your other points, somewhat anyway.

I also think the Colts are gonna be right here in the thick of this for 3-4 more years. I'lll bet they get to the SB at LEAST 1 more time before the slide downhill starts.

ANYTHING can happen in a single game. That's happened to the Colts a lot.

How good have the Pats done since they got caught cheating? They have lost 1 SB since then... that's how good they have done. I wonder how much THAT had to do with their success. The colts have been more consisten over the same time... without cheating.

Everyone will see how evenly matched we are when we actually make Peyton think about retirement after the PAIN he will endure during the game.

Colts, "team of the decade"?? Seriously, not even if they win the Super Bowl again. I like the Colts better than the Patriots but 3 rings is better than 1. Success is this league is about winning Championships first and foremost. As far as who has had the better year I make reference to my post yesterday. Colts and Saints played 6 common teams this year and the Saints scored more and gave up fewer points than the Colts by an average 17 points for Saints and 5.5 for the Colts. We have several signature landslide victories over some of the best teams in the league. These are the two best teams in the NFL and I believe it should be a great game and I can't wait to get to Miami to see my Saints march into glory!

The next relevant point I see you make about the Super Bowl matchup will be your first. Many of your posts seem better suited for the smack board.

And this is why what he says can't even be taken seriously. Typical Colts fans. It's all about how many MVPs they have, how many regular season wins, stats, stats and more stats. Guess the Lombardi's mean nothing. If there were an award for team of the decade, which there isn't, the Pats would win it hands down. The Colts aren't even in the discussion. It's stupidity like that is why his post is nothing more than "MY colts are the bestest in the world". Yeah, whatever makes you feel better. As for the Saints, like I said before, everyone here is rooting for you. I know no one rooting for the colts, no one, and we're also feeling very confident you guys will come out on top!

LOL, I gotta give you credit for rooting for the Brownies! But hey, those guys beat us this year and looked good doing it too! But gotta give credit where credit is due. The Steelers lost to every losing team this year. Talk about your SB hangovers, Lord! I have been to NO once during Mardis Gras in my 20s (in my 40s now). We had the best time and I never met so many friendly people. I've had a soft spot for the Saints since then. You guys are more than an up and coming team, you're already there and I only see your team getting better. I'm especially happy for Brees, seems like a truly good guy. Quite frankly, I'm sick of the Colts. It's all about Manning. I know he's a NO guy, but for a guy who supposedly walks on water, they should have more than 1 SB by now. I don't see them getting this one either and if they do, it will be like they've won all season, last minute in the 4th quarter. We'll be waving our "black and gold" Terrible Towels in honor of the Saints for the SB! Now go win it! :bng:
