FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — When Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning met reporters covering Super Bowl XLIV for the first time, he blew off comments made last week by New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams about knocking him out of Sunday’s game.
Williams told Nashville radio station 104.5 The Zone that he wanted his players to put “remember me” hits on Manning in an attempt to knock him out of the game. “I don’t have one,” Manning said Monday when asked about his reaction to Williams’ comments. “I didn’t hear it. “I guess I’ve been playing long enough that I don’t have any reaction to a comment like that.” In their playoff victories over Arizona and Minnesota, the Saints battered quarterbacks Kurt Warner and Brett Favre.
