Re: So watching NFL Network...
Come on man.... These guys are rock n' roll godfathers. At least it's not some weak band like Nickelback, or Daughtry.... Give me the old guys anyday!

I was stoked when I found out The Who would be the halftime act. I'm a huge fan of good, classic rock. P.S. Every time a Nickelback song is played, God kills a llama. |
Re: So watching NFL Network...
I guess Led Zeppelin would be over the hill too then.... Or Black Sabbath, AC/DC. There will NEVER be greats like these bands again. Enjoy them while you can.

OH, I love the Floyd man. David Gilmore is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I have their Pulse live dvds, and I still watch them all the time.

Another favorite of mine is Eric Clapton. I would love to see him live. His remake of I'm Tore Down, is one of my all time favorites.

Re: So watching NFL Network...
As soon as the "Who" were announced as the halftime show, I turned to my friends and let them them know that the Saints were going to the superbowl and expect them to sing "Who Dat are you" ;) ....not to mention, they gotta be better than the "stones"... they sounded and looked old.

Re: So watching NFL Network...
Bro, when I get moved to N.O., you, me, and strat need to hang out. Saints, History, music, and beer are my four favorite things! Well, there's one more, but I can't say that here.

Re: So watching NFL Network...
I love all of those bands, but the point is, the superbowl should be something from middle of the road...
Somehow pink floyd has kept up their concert presence, hell even mcjagger....but didnt Daughtry of the who have some medica issues? can he walk?: I would love to see him spinning that microphone on stage, if it doesnt kill him! What could be some middle bands to play? you know, something the under 38 crowd would like...and the over 38 crowd wouldnt mind? |
Re: So watching NFL Network...
Sorry guys I am a purist. After Roger Waters left the band it was no longer Pink Floyd - it was just 3 old dudes (one who plays a mean guitar)
Waters wrote most of the songs after Cid left. It is his band in my opinion. I drove 800 miles to see Waters do Dark Side of the Moon outside of DC - It was a fantastic show!! |

Re: So watching NFL Network...
Guys, I hear what you are saying, I really do. But age catches up with all of us at some point. I agree, that I would rather see the Who, thirty years ago, as opposed to now, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. I would rather watch Kiss' ninety year old butts, playing Detroit Rock City, than some tribute band of kids, God bless em', anyday of the week.
Sometimes I really think how unfair it is, that I was born too late to see the greats, like Hendrix, the Doors, or Led Zeppelin in their prime, but that's just the way it is. Because, no offense to anyone here, but I wouldn't go see a band like Linkin Park, if they were playing in my front yard. |

Re: So watching NFL Network...
Roger Daltrey supports The Saints! Pete "kiddie porn" Townshend is predicting The Colts. Still like to know how he bailed his butt out of that sting that caught him red-handed. Yeah those of us of that generation liked The Who. Took the wind out of the sails when that Townshend scandal went down.
Article: Back to Google News The Who's Townshend defends Super Bowl performance By Jim Slater (AFP) – 7 hours ago MIAMI — Pete Townshend defended his selection to perform with The Who in Sunday's Super Bowl half-time show, saying Thursday that he was saddened by critics of the choice due to his 2003 link to child pornography. Townshend and singer Roger Daltrey performed three songs as a preview to Sunday's show, but the legendary guitarist turned serious when asked about two Florida-based groups who have criticized the National Football League's choice. "I've been very saddened by it," Townshend said. "I feel like we're on the same side. That's really all I can say." Townshend was arrested in 2003 in Britain in a child pornography sting but later cleared, saying his accessing a child pornography website was for his anti-porn activism. "Anybody who has any doubts about if I should be here or not should investigate a little bit further," Townshend said. "For a family that has suffered the issue of child abuse, vigilance is the most important thing, not vigilantism." Since an infamous "wardrobe malfunction" exposed one of Janet Jackson's breasts before a global television audience six years ago, the NFL has had male headliners of the half-time show, including Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Townshend and Daltrey, the only remaining original members of the fabled rock band that first recorded an album in 1964, gave a taste of their half-time performance by picking up guitars and playing three of the group's biggest hits - "Behind Blue Eyes", "Pinball Wizard" and "Won't Get Fooled Again". The Who will play for 12 minutes at half-time of the NFL title game between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. "I heard if you take out the advertising and all the breaks, the game only lasts for 11 1/2 minutes," Daltrey said. "We're working longer than the players?" Townshend said. "We should redo our deal." Informed that the Colts enter the field at home games to The Who music, Daltrey called that "an incredible honor" but said he was cheering for the Saints in the wake of New Orleans recovering from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. "I just think New Orleans could do with a little bit of luck, so I will root for them," he said. "In that case, I will go for the Colts," Townshend said. Daltrey touted rugby to American football fans as gridiron "without the breaks, padding and helmets and they get less injuries than the guys in the helmets. British guys are lighter." Townshend said shoulder and hearing troubles are keeping him from touring. "At the moment I'm struggling with some health issues," he said. The half-time show was hit with issues of its own Tuesday when four volunteer workers were hospitalized with injuries after one of 40 segments of the makeshift stage that will be assembled on the field collapsed during a rehearsal. |
Re: So watching NFL Network...
Wow Rail, that's the first I've heard of that. Alot of respect just went out the window on that one..... But, Michael Jackson has his own movie that is making millions, and we all know about him too. Must be nice to be rich.

I would be into this music too, if I was a chick, but fortunately I have testicles, so I have to say no. How about slayer? Or cannibal corpse? Something with testicles also... |
