Officials

Do they let them play or do we get roughing the passer called if the defenders look at Manning wrong???

Could decide the game. Can we intimidate Manning or is he bigger than the game itself???

Green is known for a "Let em play" attitude as far as hits on the QB goes from what I've heard.

If we even look in his direction we'll get flagged for the personal foul.

I think because of Greg Williams comments we will be scrutinized, and prolly end up with 1 or 2 bad roughing the passer calls-

Just my opinion

This game is not going to hinge on a roughing call

Re: Officials

one of them has the most holding calls this year so that needs to be watched

Hope you are right, but they can be crucial

I think the officials did a good job of calling the game tonight. I want to thank them for keeping it fair and letting the boys play football.

The referees stayed out of the game, pretty much. Good job! The game was decided by the players making plays. Black&Gold showed that they ARE the best team in the NFL - convincingly.

Lol I've seen on our arch nemesis's forum (the falcons) that they thought they should have called a block in the back on Porters return(the block on Manning). From my vantage point it wasn't a block in the back, but Manning trying to block with his back... big difference. He moved into the block(I think he was trying to get a call or something).

That block was completely legal. I just wish Smith would have hit him harder. Like a Warner part 2.

I wish he would have used mannings head to create a hole in the ground. His head is shaped like a mallet.

Re: Officials

The officiating overall was great. No picky calls just letting the guys play. I though a little more pushing and shoving was allowed than usual but thats the way it should be in a SB.

Re: Officials

I am a Manning fan, as everyone knows...but because he chose Tennessee I am much more of an Eli fan. I was an Ole Miss fan before I ever heard the word Manning.

I guess I'm trying to justify what I'm about to say...but Peyton had transitioned from nice and humble to nice and a little smug. Porter's pick completely wiped the smugness off his face...and to me...that was priceless.

Great take Crusader.

Just what I hoped for....

Let em play!

Great job. Lots of pushing, shoving, and chippiness. They let them play.

Re: Officials

I know an NFL official. He is actually the Maint Director for our local parks department. I'll respect his privacy by not naming him.

That same charachter you see in Sean Payton and Drew Brees are the same I've witnessed in the gentlemen I refer to. I get the impression that the officials truly are fair minded and extremely professional.

We always whine when we disagree with a call, but if you look at the big picture it is simply amazing they get so many calls CORRECT at the light speed this game occurs at.

QB Ratings
Drew Brees 114
Whiner Manning 88
