Cards fans were classy enough to come back and chow down on some blackbird.

We're better fans than that. Colts are a good team who will be back again. I'd love to see them same time next year for round 2.

It would be a good rematch, and I'll root for Manning for every day of the next 364 days except Feb 6th 2011. ;)

Re: Indy fans... were are the excuses?

Who Cares what anybody thinks WE ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS. I don't think Colts fans will make excuses. They know they got beat by a better team on this night. It was an excellent game by two excellent teams. The better team won and the better team made the plays when they had too. But i do wanna say one thing about Peyton Manning. Losing this game makes no difference. He still is one of the best to ever play QB and in a sports world filled with selfish athletes. He is Class personafied. But this night belongs to the WHO DAT NATION. Thank God We Won!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

Who ****ing dat! I was a little disappointed. I was hoping they wouldn't be too nervous. I was expecting a blow-out, because I saw the Saints play every game this year. There was no doubt in my mind that they were the most talented, best coached team in the NFL or on the planet as far as that goes. I don't know what Tony Dungy and Deion and the rest of those goons were watching all year.

Think about this. Next year we won't be nervous. Man, I'd hate to be our next year's victim...they're really gonna get blown out.

Who Dat!

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

Indy has a great team and they had us reeling for a quarter.

Difference is, we have a GREATER team and we did several things we have done all year and got no credit for by the "experts"

1) We never gave up
2) We never panicked
3) We made adjustments to the other team's gameplan
4) WE PLAYED TO WIN THE GAME (many past Saints teams lacked that killer instinct)

I didn't talk any trash in my tenure here.

I offer no excuses now.

The Saints played an excellent game.

Congratulations to all you Saints Who Datters!

I needed the rest of the night to be sad. I am over it now... as a stand up, first class organization beat my Colts. I kn ew I'd be disappointed, but not too much.

I got an email from one of my friends in Indy after the game:

"Yeah I'd be happy too if my team only won because of paid off refs. They didn't show one single replay of any of the penalties against the Colts. This was a predetermined game by far."

So... it's all because of the refs. LOL

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

I can really only think of two calls a Colts fan might question.

1) the 2 pt conversion ruling, which in the end did not win the game and was correctly reversed.
2) the offensive PI on 3rd and goal. Even if that had went the other way, the Colts might score with 40 seconds left and still trailing. Our D was giving up some real estate in the end, but SLOWLY. Don't see the game changing even if the Colts recovered an onside kick that everyone would know is coming.

Refs played little part in this game IMHO. What were there, 6 or so total penalties in the game?

It was a well played game by both teams that really boiled down to the turnover margin (Superbowl winner now 32-3 when winning the TO ratio) and a great stop by our defense in the red zone at the end of the game.

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

Some people are such sooooore losers! LOL....if anybody paid off the refs, it sure was not us! I liked the fact that the refs pretty much let them play the game last night, and didn't call a bunch of piddley little penalties on either team unless it was a flagrant foul. All in all, the refs did a good job!

Choupique 02-08-2010 01:49 PM

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

It was all vodou spells. I been telling ya'll that for the last week.

I find it ironic that anyone says the Saints have the refs on their side.
Give me a freakin break.

What this Super Bowl is, if anything, is payback for decades of chitty calls AGAINST us.

I would suggest midol or tampons to those whiner idiots. Sorry, I'm too blunt sometimes, I admit.

If those two are the only two then I call BS, because both were called correctly, and that's no homerism.

1) Lance bobbled and then 'controlled' the ball, over the line and no question IN the end zone. That's 2 points. The Colts player kicked the ball out of his hands after the fact. The BAD CALL was that we had to challenge it to begin with, because the REF is standing 2 feet from the play and blew the call.
2) Minus the offensive PI, that's an INT, because our player was pushed from behind, forcing him to place his foot OB to stay in position. The Refs were right on it.

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

I agree. I'm just pointing out the only two calls that were even remotely close.

I think the refs called a very fair game and were a non-factor in the outcome of the game.

I don't think the 2 pt conversion changed the game... but i thought that the receiver had to control a catch out of bounds or even AFTER crossing the goal line. I thought that was wrong... but I am no expert.

Crossing the goal line ends the play at that instant. All he had to do was control the ball long enough to cross the plane.

I agree,i have been a Saints fan since 1967.This game will make no difference on how Mannings career is defined once he is retired. The Colts fans have more class than most NFL teams fans!!

Right-
That's why I can't believe it wasn't called complete immediately. He had possession TWICE

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

I'm discussing this ONLY as a football discussion now. No sour grapes or anything.

I thought... and I admit, I am wrong ocassionally ( ;) ) that a catch had to be made, the whole way to the ground, or until a "football" move is made. Regardless of in or out of bounds. We've seen that rule a lot with catches going out of the endzone. Th receiver HAS to catch it still. I guess crossing the goal line is different. I was surprised at the call. Either way... what closed the game was the pick 6. At that point the game was done.

Congrats again Who-Datters!

Possession + crossing the goal line is a TD. No "football" move is required. Otherwise the Cards win the SB last year. And it was a completely clean catch. Easy call.

Re: Indy fans... where are the excuses?

No team plays a perfect game. There is nothing in Super Bowl 44 that any Colts fan should find recriminating. On that day, with that opponent, they lost. You line up 10 times and odds are each team will win 5 times, but it just didn't happen that day for the Colts.

Yep, exactly. I thought that 2-point conversion was good before the replay and was screaming for Payton to challenge that call. The replay is extremely clear, ball broke the plane and possession was made. Excellent concentration to make that play. I hope you guys post some pictures of your parade, I'd really like to see some.

I saw it worse than that. The Colts pulled the arm making a catch practically impossible - palpably unfair act. If ever a rule needs to change, that was it. Clear INT but offensive PI. Penalty has to be more than 10 yards repeat down. For a start, loss of down. Perhaps 15 yard penalty as well, not 10
