Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Who is the lucky sacrificial lamb? Minny, Pitt or Atlanta?

I bet they go Pittsburg - last two Super Bowl winners. But Favre-gate 2010 wouldn't suprise me either.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I bet Pittsburgh

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Yeah I bet Pittsburgh too. I see them building up the hype for the Vikes rematch. Not to mention, Favre probably won't have made up his mind by the time the schedule is confirmed.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I guess the League will try to out wait Favre and not make an announcement until after he decides whether or not to come back for one more year. If Favre retires then we'll get Pittsburgh.

I hope it is thePittsCheeseBurgher, but it will be MinnieSooooooota.

I reckon the Pits. But I would like to compound the misery on the Clowns

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I'd like to see us get one in early on the Falcons. The later we play them in the season, the better the chance that they have gotten their heads organized give us a close game. (See week 14 of last season 26-23)

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Does anybody know when they will announce the 2010-2011 schedule? I am planning on going to a game in New Orleans and the Saints/Cowboys game in Cowboys Stadium, and I want to jump on the tickets as soon as possible.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I think they're gonna base it on this years As the Brett Favre Turns.
Yall realize this is the shortest Saints Offseason in history? |

You got it, Thanks!

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
My gut feeling tells me it's going to be Pittsburgh. The NFL isn't going to risk putting the Minnesota game in this slot, no telling if Favre is really coming back or not.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
All I know is if I'm still living in NorCal this time next year, I will definately be at the 49ers/Saints game. I've been waiting many, MANY years, to throw a superbowl in their fans faces, and the time is now! Pretty sure I will be here, so I'm looking forward to it. This will be the fourth time I've seen the Saints at the stick.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Cute skymike, because there were many years that the Saints season ended in October, mid November.
Ya'll I really think this is so silly about Farve. It is wrong too. Why don't he just retire for good. Stop the drama. I really think he will go for it one more year. Sad. Pitiful. He is one of those great athletes who does not know when to get out of the spotlight. Instead of going out a winner, he'll do that comeback and go back taking away from his record. |
Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Favre had his best year, in a very long time. I definately see him coming back one more time. Getting that close, and missing it has got to be eating at him big time. Of course he will wait until the beginning of the season to tell everyone. That's just his style.

Yes,Farve will add to his already tens of millions. I just him as having had a really good year on top of his many great years.
Stop now instead of staying on next year, and the year after . He wants to be back at SB. He seems one of those types who won't quit until...then have to leave at 43. He is 40. I think Farve is one the best. All of this drama of holding up his team, etc. Get over yourself, you know, is what I'ld like to say. |

Tough call - Any will be a challenge. I sure do not want to be the first SB winning team to lose that opening game!!

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Pittsburgh is in Prime Time a lot, so they might be saved for later in the year. I'd love to jump on ATL early.
|
Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I'm thinking Minnesota will get another shot at the Saints. Another victory for the Saints, and one that shuts up all those we're the better team that lost whiners. I also believe Favre will be back for his final season.

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
I agree that there's more benefit to hyping the NFCC rematch later in the season. Plus, why put a divisional game that only has regional interest on the national stage? It has to be Pittsburgh because there is too much drama to be made but not really consequential in the grand scheme of things. Either loses, it doesn't really affect each's postseason opportunities (div or conf)

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
Of course the Falcowns ... I really want to rub in in the Falcons face so bad and nothing would be better than releasing the Superbowl Banner with those losers on the field

Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
No offense to our fans all over the world, because I know we have some great international fans here, but I don't really care who they open the season with, just as long as they don't have to go to Japan, England or Australia to play the game.

Play 2 games in London, Tokyo, Canada, Mexico City, Barcelona, and give LA, San Antonio, Salt Lake, & OK City games also. Every year we hear that 4 preseason games are too many, and in February we all start going through withdrawal. Cut 2 PS games and add a 17th regular season game. Hey Goodell- add a 17th game, which will jack revenues sky high, and then have the Super Bowl in the second week on February. The following Monday would be a national holiday- President's Day, solving the "nation is hung over" problem. |
Re: Saints to Start 2010 Season on Sept 9th.
uh uh. 17th game prolongs an already long season. You and me LOVE a long season. The players, however, take a beating enough in 16 games. I might sound crazy, but even a little tweak in the formula changes things. You effectively, with a longer season, end up with benches vs. benches. I like the fact that benches come into play a little, but with salary considerations, a longer season plays into the hands of the fat cat teams, especially if they alter the current salary cap deal. Remember how the 49ers were always wanting larger rosters? Larger rosters favor rich teams, who can afford to pay more to bench players. I think the same dynamic works in a longer season. It also would alter the playoff picture, and that means change. I hate change. The only thing I dislike more than change... is hope.
Im in the minority, but I enjoy preseason, for the same reason the rest of the country likes American Idol. I enjoy seeing stars arise out of nowhere, and underestimated players, like Pierre Thomas and Marques Colston make something of themselves. Ok, I like preseason, because I get to see my team suit up, and if they lose, it doesnt really matter. If they win, and look good winning, it still feels like a win. It's win-win. Remember we used to have six preseason games. That was a bit much, but preseason in its current form helps teams like the Saints, who have to stretch their dollar further, by getting their picks right, and by better evaluating their talent. This means teams with brain-power duos like Sean Payton & Mickey Loomis have an advantage over Jerry Jones & Dan Snyder who could just throw money and buy their players. In the status quo, smart > rich. And if we want football in Europe, start a European League. I think the gumbo is fine just like it is. Dont **** with the roux. |
