Suggestions for a good road game

Four friends and myself are looking to go to a road game next year. I've never been to an away game and was wondering if any of you could give me an idea of what would be a good one. Our away games next year are: Cincinnati, Baltimore, Arizona, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa Bay. And by good I mean a cool city where the fans might not be too brutal (Chicago or Philly types). I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

Panthers fans are high and mighty when they're winning. Otherwise it's great. Charlotte is a terrible place to visit though. Nothing to do here.

A good friend of mine is a Bungles fan, I have friend that lives in Tampa. I'd like to go back to Carolina. The Pittsburgh game is at the Dome. I would say anyone these should be cool for me. I just need to find the money.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Dallas was one we were looking at. Its not that far, and I would love to see the cowgirls get smoked in person.

Dallas would be a great road game to go to. One thing I don't to give Jerry Jones a dime of my money.

Well, I've been to three previous Saints/49ers games, at Candlestick, in San Francisco, and I've always had a blast. The fans are great, the pre game festivities are awesome. Good food, good company. Believe it or not, ALOT of Saints fans show up for it too. Then, of course you get to hang out in one of the most beautiful cities in the world afterwards.

Not to mention, having some more Saints fans out here, always helps the cause.

I agree...Dallas. I've already told my wife that I am going to the Saints/Dallas game. Its only a three hour drive from Shreveport. So I will need lots of support. Qbrees, I don't want to give Jonsey and of my money either, but it will be worth it to watch the Saints squash them in their own palace.

Just wondering, since you mentioned, "The Stick", if you possess a ""croix de Candlestick" or ever got to witness the "Crazy Crab" do his thing?

when i went to the bengals game a few years ago it was one of the most exciting things ive ever done

i loved the experience and even tho cincinnatti is one of the most confusing cities in the entire world, it would be well worth it to venture up there

i would say go to a browns game cuz if there are any fans that know how to tailgate before a game, its browns fans.....you know damn well they dont go to the games to watch the browns lol....unfortunately my brownies are playin in the dome this year so i wont get to go....:(

I read in another thread where you were the self-proclaimed, "biggest Saint fan"...or words to that effect. Now you're gonna say, "my brownies"? :p

Nah, I've never been to a Giants game. They moved over to At&t Park, on the Embarcadero years ago. VERY NICE facilities, right next to the Bart station, so you can get there really easy.

The first game I went to at the stick was Saints/49ers, back in 99. Great tailgating, and just a historic park all the way around. Some of the fans are bad, but overall, they are all pretty cool.

I lived out there in Mountain View for a while...I got to go to a few games. Had a cop pull 4 tickets from a scalper one time and pull up next to me and ask me if I was looking for tickets. After a long pause of wondering what he was up to, I finally answered, "Yeah, why?"

He says, "Cause I got 4."

Another long pause, and I'm like, "Well...how much do you want for them."

He says, "I'm not selling them...I'm giving them to you." For a second there, I thought I was about to go to jail.

Then the scalper walks by right as the cop drives away and says, "You should pay me for those...he got them from me."

I was like, "OK...got to go to the ATM first...wait right there."

I hope he didn't wait.

Mountain View huh? I've been to alot of concerts there. Saw Ozzfest twice, and most recently, I went to the Mayhem festival. Terrible sound there though.

Yeah, I used to drive right by At&t on my way to work, and the scalpers would literally come up to my window trying to sell me tickets. Either that, or ask for change.

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

cajun, I don't what city you live in.

I would say Dallas and Atlanta are good away game trips to go to if you are in LA.
Those teams are good. Those cities have lots of N.O. Saints fans living there and many fans leave from LA and go there for the away games.

San Francisco would be good, further away, but good to really make a mini vaca if you want.

I am 3 hours from Dallas and will check into that early for myself.
Why not?:bng:

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

Oh trust me Maid, there are officially ALOT of Saints fans in California now as well. The biggest bandwagon jumping state in the country! Especially Los Angeles, where they dont' have a team.

OldMaid 02-16-2010 02:18 AM

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

I trust you saintpaul.
No,I did not know CA and esp. L.A. had Saints fans even if they are bandwagon ones.
I know many New Orleanians left N.O.and LA to go live in CA during the 50's,60's.

I was thinking more along time and distance traveling for games.
It depends how far you want to go and how much time you have.

CA is just further away if you only have a weekend.

No, I meant as of this year, there are alot of them now.

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

Thanks for the input everyone. One thing I forgot to factor in is that we don't exactly know which of these games may be Thursday or Monday night games which could make a big difference. I would love to go to a game in San Fransisco as I have never been to California, but that may be too far far the rest of my group. Oh and I live in Thibodaux, so Dallas would be a 10 hr or so drive I guess...not too bad.

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

The last time the Saints played in Arizona, I, along with a few of my relatives, went. The Cardinals were still playing in Tempe then; Dennis Green was still the Cards coach, and Jim Haslett the Saints' coach; and we lost big. Emmitt Smith had a big day running for Arizona.

I am planning on going to the game at Arizona in 2010 (I live in the Vegas area, so it's not too far). I may also go to the San Francisco game.

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

If I were going to suggest a game to travel to I would have to suggest a division game. Atlanta should be our toughest division opponent so I'd recommend Atlanta. The more faithful we have the louder we get and the more our team can hear it.

Re: Suggestions for a good road game

Pick a place you'd never go to without some damn good reason. Sounds like that might be Cincy for you. At this point, you might see a road win given what happened this season. However, wait to see what time of year it is. You don't want to be in Cincy in December, nor do you want to be in AZ in September!

Go for the food, stay for the win.
