Gov. Daniels flies Saints flag for Super Bowl bet
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is flying a New Orleans Saints flag outside his Statehouse office after losing a friendly Super Bowl wager with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Daniels' office says in a statement that the flag went on display Tuesday in the Statehouse atrium, where it will remain for a week. In a letter to Jindal, Daniels says "a deal is a deal." Daniels also jokes in the letter that he'll be demonstrating how to cover an onside kick. The onside kick with which the Saints opened the second half was a key to their 31-17 Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts. |

Indianapolis Governor flies New Orleans Saints flag over capital building
Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal, made a friendly wager with Indiana Governor, Mitch Daniels, that the Saints would beat the Colts in the Super Bowl last Sunday. It was a straight up bet with no point spread. It's a time honored tradition for Governors to make these types of bets in the spirit of friendly rivalrys and acknowledgment of each teams success in their sport.

I sure most of you saw this, but I don't remember it being posted. So here it is.
New Orleans Saints flag flown by Indiana governor is bought by Alexandria man By The Associated Press March 05, 2010, 4:02PM A New Orleans Saints flag that Indiana's governor displayed outside his office after losing a Super Bowl bet is heading to Louisiana after it was sold in an online auction for $6,852. The governor's office says Bryan Bossier Sr. of Alexandria, won the flag as bids in the final 30 seconds of the auction that ended Thursday jumped by more than $2,000. Gov. Mitch Daniels will autograph the flag, which spent a week near his Statehouse door from the wager with Gov. Bobby Jindal. The money is going to an inner city youth sports program run by Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Daniels set a condition that all youth football participants must learn to recover an onside kick -- a mistake that hurt the Colts in the Super Bowl. http://media.nola.com/saints_impact/...6267_large.jpg |
