Who Dat? Inc. sues Saints, NFL Properties
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 6, 2010 4:35 PM ET Those of you in Who Dat? story withdrawal are in luck. The Associated Press reports that the company that made a 1983 recording of the Saints' famous cheer is suing the team, the state of Lousiania, and NFL Properties. Who Dat? Inc. filed a suit Thursday in federal district court in Lousiana that the defendants "damaged its right to profit before the Saints' Super Bowl championship last month." Originally, the NFL claimed some rights to the phrase and the Saints' fleur-de-lis, but the state said that both are public domain. This is a unique twist on a typical championship team problems. After a title, everyone gets greedy. Who Dat? Inc will never see a penny from me! I just don't have the words for how angry this makes me.... |

Tell them to take a hike and if they really knew what the name was about it wouldn't be an issue. Greedy SOB's

I'm not going to pretend to understand all the legality in this. But, how long have we been chanting Who Dat? without so much as a whimper from any company or the NFL. All of a sudden we are World Champions (man that just does not get old does it) and everyone wants a piece of the pie. I don't know.

I feel sure this won't be the end of it. I understand that the French Government is also developing a lawsuit for New Orleans' use of the Fleur.
Updates are coming out of the color spectrum as well, stating that "The color "Black" is not really a color, it is the absense of color." Also in "Color" news; King Midus is laying claim that he is the owner of all things "Gold" and that the Banners of "Black and GOLD SuperBowl" were in direct violation of his rights of ownership. |
