Super Bowl Question

Understand that I am as die-hard a fan as all of you so....

On PT's touchdown in the Super Bowl. Why wasn't Evans (#73) block on Brackett (#58) not a block in the back??

Did we get away with something or am I missing something??

Thanks

Re: Super Bowl Question

The reason is simple. If I see a 330 lb man running full speed at me and I weigh 240 lbs, I'm going to duck for cover. That's exactly what Brackett did. He made what football players call a financial decision to take himself out of harms way because he knew he was beat.

It's the same reason their was no block in the back penalty on when we flattened Peyton Manning's ass when he "attempted" to tackle Tracy Porter after that horrible INT. Manning half attempted to go after Porter, realized he had no chance and basically turned away from the play hoping to get a BS call. Don't think so pal. The refs are very good and smart when it comes to blocks in the back. You have to actually be attempting to make a play and not ACTING like you are making a play.

It could have gone either way.

No. The way stockman described it is the only way it could/should have been called. Superbowl is not the place for ticky-tack calls. It's the best playing the best. Let the players decide the winner.

Re: Super Bowl Question

A defensive player cannot turn his back as the blocker approaches to block him. If he does, it is a no call.

the screen play? evans hit him in the side

on top of that there was very little contact it looked like. he just hit him enough and the reason evans hit him a little on the back is because brackett dove while evans was going for the block

i would say thats the reason. i didnt see brackett turn his back at all

Re: Super Bowl Question

Brackett didn't turn his back. He saw the ROAD GRADER coming at him and duck and covered. Peyton Manning turned his back and tried to draw the ticky tac call. The refs didn't buy it, but it won't stop Colts fans from *****ing like babies about it, as if the outcome of the game would have been different either way.

Colts etc can cry as much as they like. The Super Bowl is over. I would hope that all losing team fans don't go analysing every play to complain.
